Preparation thread: NMA Event: Fallout 22

I still have to finish my Wasteland 2 LP before I start. Yikes. I got all year to finish them though. I can play ketchup with @Korin .

If we are all fine with this then maybe we could launch the event on Monday? And start playing Fallout: Nevada.

  • I want a banner on the front page!
    • How do I add that?
    • If clicked you should be taken to the right thread.
  • Where should I put the thread for the event?
    • In this subsection or somewhere else?
    • It will be a sticky.
This was at the bottom of the last page.

@Korin do you know how banner s work?

I will start this by tomorrow! I made a thread here. We need that slide in the feature slider on the front page. Can anyone help me contact admins?

Just put the image below and then a link to this thread.

I can do this... so, just to make sure I know what I'm doing... I am putting it in the home page slider and just making it a link to this thread?

I think I did it, logo looks a little weird though... doesn't seem to pick up the transparency

Thank you!

@Crni Vuk can you have a look at it? Maybe we could use one of these for the feature slider on the front page?
But they have to be separated:

Yes @Crni Vuk the Communist Utopia known as No Mutants Allowed needs your help. Your work was appreciated but not suited for stretching title banner front page format.

I apologize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong thread, but I saw my guide being mentioned and wanted to chime in about it.

Left My Heart In New Vegas is meant to be a much bigger guide than Viva New Vegas is.
This is for a handful of reasons:
  • First, Viva New Vegas is small because it doesn't trust its users. Qolore implicitly acknowledges as much by saying New Vegas is an "extremely fickle" game. I place some faith on whoever follows my guide. The guide works, the game doesn't crash, and it includes many, many more gameplay mods and "minor" visual mods than VNV does.
  • Second, the guide is big because I divide mods into two categories: mods I like and thus would recommend to others, and mods I don't think are significant and thus don't use or recommend them.
Those two caveats aside, the guide is modular as Viva New Vegas is, and comes with its own set of compatibility patches for many of the featured mods.

There are many mods the guide doesn't include and won't include. Among them are:
  • Brave New World. In all honesty I don't think the voice acting from this mod is so good. It definitely sounds different, quality wise, than that of the vanilla game. And voice acting places near last in my list of issues with New Vegas.
  • Functional Post Game Ending. I don't care about playing once I've finished the game.
  • The Living Desert. Mojave Raiders and Mojave Wildlife are enough for me. It would be nice if the mod didn't have so much feature creep. And for performance reasons, I don't recommend it either.
  • Classic Fallout Weapons Remastered. "Remastered" is a nice word, but the truth is these weapons have varying levels of quality, to the point I can't honestly recommend it to anyone other than those who must absolutely have their classic Fallout weapons, regardless of how terrible the textures, meshes, or animations are.
  • Simple Open Strip. I'd rather not gamble a save on a mod that, frankly, doesn't seem much important to me. Having an open strip would have been nice; sacrificing compatibility post-release with an unofficial mod, isn't.
I'll make a thread for my guide tomorrow as I'm about to go to bed. Hopefully other users will be able to chime in.

Thank you for that clarification!

When those mods came they where surrounded by hype and described as fantastic or groundbreaking so it's good to know that they are actually flawed.

It would be very appreciated if you created a thread that introduced us to Left My Heart In New Vegas!
