Weaver is 61 years old at the moment - she doesn't look that old yet. I can see her being in some sort of a mentor position in a new aliens movie...

Well wouldn't be as fucking weird as the new indiana gramps movie.
beeing a queen or something huh ?

Asbesto paparazzi mothballs.

...what?

Not trying to be picky but the 1976 movie was Alien. Aliens was the sequel.

Being picky, it was a 1979 movie.

...but this time as real movie and not as AvP-just-to-get-your-money-crap.

It's gonna be made in 3D. Please tell me how this Alien prequel is NOT just out for your money.

*sigh*

Which movie isn't out just for your money? Not like anyone would invest millions of dollars and sacrifice months of his life out of love for the movie art.

Anyways, I am curious about which way will this movie go - Alien or Aliens. In other words, will there be one xenomorph as the ultimate enemy, or will they throw in dozens of them just so the brave marines can shoot them?

Or maybe the movie won't have humans at all? Like all actors will be dressed up as some alien race

This could be interesting if done right.
I love Alien and Aliens. The other two are a tad on the shite side.
While Weaver is not crucial to the franchise, she could do another Alien film (not a prequel of course)
She showed that she's still got it in Avatar.

Hey! I was gonna say that, damn it! To add to the pickiness, Aliens came in 1986.

Alien and Aliens are the only ones I will recognize. All others in the series are crap.

Not a fan of prequels, but perhaps there will be more information about those Space Jockeys, I've always wondered about them. And the change in the xenomorph design after Aliens (not to say there was no change in that movie, but it was a good change) really bothers me. The original 1979 xenomorph design remains my favorite.

If the prequel focuses on the Space Jockeys, that could potentially make me want to see it. But if it's just a retelling of the previous films just with different people, forget it.

If it sucks it's just a money-making ploy; if it doesn't suck, it's more. Also, as others have said, Alien was out for your money. The question is whether or not it was worth your money, and whether or not the new one will be worth your money. Finally, if the prequel was just an attempt to milk the Alien brand, they could've hired some talentless hack instead of Ridley Scott.

Personally, I thought the alien/Ellen Ripley-clone hybrid from the fourth movie was an interesting character. That movie ended just as it was getting good. I could see a movie about that Ripley and the Wynona Ryder rogue android, but it wouldn't logically have aliens in it, so it will never be made.
