We all know Natiq "defonten" Aghayev, and we all know Interplay's project V13, aka FOOL. Now see the two combine as defonten reveals a piece of concept art he did for Interplay, on project V13.

One of the concepts for Interplay Entertainment, USA. Possibly, I can show you more in the near future, but this is not certain. It was done for a project codenamed V13, which, as many surmise, is the future Fallout Online. I worked under the supervision of Jason Anderson - one of the fathers of the Fallout series.
He further notes in the comments that he did this piece in early 2008, that Chris Taylor notes V13 is still in production and that an official announcement "is expected".

Wouha!
Defonten working on a Fallout game...
A dream comes true!
Nuka Cola everywhere, wood bridges betweens building and a comic book clock tower...

I hope we are going to see more like that. Just that would make a Fallout MMO worth it!

On this, the most joyous of occassions, when I should be all like "HELL YEAH!!!" all I can think of is, no more Battlestar Galactica. And Fallout 3 sucks.

We've known this for quite a while now. The Fallout part of Interplay's teaser image before their new website was launched was clearly Defonten's style.

Also, isn't he under NDA about V13 being FOOL (not that anyone doubts it, but still)?

Heh, yeah, Ausir was sharp enough to notice that. I knew for other reasons. NMA actually has a dev profile of defonten, dated exactly a year ago, March 25 2008. Hopefully it'll be out soon, now.

Mmm, never for sure, at least not for me...
I might be wrong, but I remember have seen this broken car a good while ago, at least before 2008 (when Defonten started working with Interplay). And it was only an extract of an old piece of art, so I just assumed they bought the right to use it for their website.

edit
Oww, well, seems Ausir is allknowing aferall... :D
(and that i write too slowly)

I just assumed that everyone knew by then.

You dork, just because you and I know doesn't mean anyone else does. I don't know about you but I'm not one for blurting out information that's not supposed to go public, and as far as I know the defonten is on the FOOL team news has been sat on for well over a year now.

By the way, Serg.S, FOOL's lead concept artist, also recently released Falloutish looking art:

Looks more STALKER than Fallout, as in more "generic post-apocalyptic" than "Fallout post-apocalyptic", except for, possibly, the car.

A colab piece with Brendon Sharkey, eh? Never heard of no Sharkey. Shoulda maybe post this later on, I guess.

Well, when I figured it out (and before I knew that "it's not supposed to go public"), I posted that I think it's Defonten publicly in a few places, simply based on the style. So even without official confirmation I considered it as much of a mystery as V13 being FOOL. Hell, I even posted this at the Codex:

A-HAH! Then the lesson learned here, my dear children, is "pay attention to what Ausir says", for even the most casual remark is set to contain nothing less than the grand truth!

Wonder if we'll get anything out of FOOL other than a few pieces of concept art. Chris Taylor seems to still believe they can pull it off...

FOOL seems to have some of the right folks working on it but I'm still skeptical that it'll work out well at all because I'm seeing it as a very difficult thing to spread things out enough. I think I vaguely remember Ausir's comment with the links to defonten's art, though I could be mistaken. Here's to hoping that he didn't breach his NDA.

I'm torn when it comes to FOOL. On one hand the thought of Interplay making a cool Fallout game once again is very appealing, and the fact that Taylor is working on it just gives me more hope.

On the other hand my logic takes over and I just don't see how Fallout could be translated to an MMO and still maintain the right kind of game play.

In a perfect world, I'd have billions of dollars and would just re-assemble the Fallout team with vast sums of cash and be done with it. :D

First of all thanks for your comments guys.

Concerning NDA. Well I never said PV13 was exactly FOOL itself. As I was writing that description originally in russian it sounds exactly as it should - I meant that as many of us suppose, or surmise its got to be an upcoming FOOL.. and nothing more. Just in case Interplay decides to kick my ass for that - added word "possibly" to that phrase. Now it sounds:

It was done for a project codenamed V13, which, as many surmise, is possibly the future Fallout Online MMORPG.

Possibly, I can show you more in the near future, but this is not certain.

So that maybe means about PV13 what we are all thinking?

Cool, your change makes it sound indefinite whereas your original message read (in English) more like a confirmation of what people suspected, at least that's how it sounded when I read it.

It's all a bit ridiculous anyway, it's not like V13 is much of a codename for a MMO by a company with the rights to make a Fallout MMO, especially not with this new art release and Chris Taylor popping in to talk about it on NMA every now and then. I hope that you'll be able to release more of your concept art in the future, it's always a pleasure to look at.

Cheers and good luck with the project!
