"Rampage" in Sydney streets---It has begun

I am worried that it has been similarly exaggerated in foreign media, creating the wrong impression.

Non-Aussies out there. How has this story been covered in your media, if at all?

Barely. It's been compared to the French riots a lot. And as most Europeans realise full well those were blown up beyond proportions, we realised the same is true for you Aussies.

Netwerk, one of the country's most reputable news-shows, did an interesting article "Why we shouldn't be surprised Sydney has racial riots". That about covered it.

Hasn't been covered.

I found out about this a few days ago by reading AFP's website.

It was in the faits-divers part of my newspaper, somewhere around page 26. The television news covered it too, but they surely didn't blow anything out of proportion, as far as I can tell.

There really wasn't anything to blow out of proportion, well at least for the last few days, as a few arrests have occured and thats it.

The only place that actually had these riots was a relatively tiny section of Sydney. Not nearly the whole of Sydney.

When I was talking to relatives in the UK, they seemed to believe that the Macquarie Fields riots (mid year sometime) actually involved rioters across the entire region of Sydney. But Sydney is a massive sprawling city and there is no where enough people to fill the streets due to size/population ratio...
