Mine is from Star Control II. It's a Kzer-Za U.r-Quan.
(the dot between the "U" and the "r" is to defeat the otherwise charming anti-idiot script that most pages probably should have.)

*Does* sorta look like Cthulu or an octopus with welding goggles but according to the game designers it's based on a Hawaiian caterpillar if it were about 30' long.

I give yours a whopping 9.0 for being animated but not annoying, and also suitably menacing.

I think it's more like 4 or 5 bit, 8-bit is about as high color I can see. Too bad forcing it makes it switch to wierd colors, no their true 8-bit representation. I want optical implants, and I wan't them yesterday, damnit! This new native 24 and 32 bit color crap is bullshit!
