Real-life power armor???

Those two concepts have been around for a while now. The only thing that annoys me about them is they always show the "Future Warrior" carrying some sort of super pistol like from Judge Dredd which is just stupid.

I find it amusing though that the normal uniform is starting to look a lot like the ones from Aliens. :P - Colt

Future warrior has 2 stages...

Stage 1 is released in 2010 (or the Army hopes so...) It's basically a nano-assissted suit, still chunky like today's battle armor, but it has stuff that keeps track of your current status, on-board computer system (for better combat ability) and slightly boosted movement.

Stage 2 is the Black "Ninja" suit, 2020-2025, it's like a shirt with some plates of armor on it... the shirt is soft and light, but is a nanotech combat fatigue... it hardens upon bullet impact, also apparently, it'd have a survivability and enhancement system on it, meaning stronger, faster and onboard drug system for when you're injured or something.

I also read something about a new combat drug, seems like Psycho in fallout... basically what the drug does is boost your muscle refresh rate, faster movement and stronger... perception goes up, you're smarter and stuff... pain receptors are cut down to 10% functionality, adrenalin flow is increased... drawbacks..
Renders the receiver in a coma in most of the cases, (monkeys and rats were tested.) Seems to be causing permanent muscular damage and mental damage, also while being affected by the drug, agression was lifted by about 150-200%. This drug I think was scrapped because it was more a danger.

Also, Invisibility fields... Theywere able to create one I think, hold it for 10 seconds too, not sure if the research on the field is still going on, but apparently the newer stuff was made secret due to success... problem is that the field uses a shiteload of power.

You've heard of the Philadelphia Experiments, right? Supposedly they achieved it back then, but the crew went insane. For all we know they've spent all these years since 1943 just ironing out the kinks.

The Philadelphia Experiment is a joke. Even if you believe they actually did try to experiment with it, they couldn't have done it. If they HAD gotten it to work it would have been used in WWII to protect against the bad guys don't you think? A joke. - Colt

That's just what they want you to think.

The field I was talking about was recent, like 1998-2000 recent... It's been a while since I read anything on it so don't ask me for the website on it.

Also, regarding power armor... There's a type of bullet, it's .50 or 12.7mm (both are same size) it's basically a steel core with a tungsten
shell and the tip is manufactured diamond or something like it, it's also coated in teflon. Apparently, the bullet costs about 5-7 US dollars per pop, designed to knock heavy armor. This means power armor would still be pretty ineffective protection wise.

Oh yeah, Pancor Jackhammer is a kick ass shotgun, new versions have a dual purpose clip, the drum can act as a mine also.

It's doubtful there would be an outer layer of tungsten as that would seriously eat at the barrel unless it was saboted. Also, normal guys don't just run around with .50 rifles so it's not like powered armor is pointless. A grenade is going to be a danger just as much because even if it doesn't penetrate, it can knock the guy over and the concussion would be bad. - Colt

Not necessarily. I'm the kind of person who is paranoid enough to be a little unsure.

Maybe something happened, we don't know what. The experiment, if I remember correctly, was supposed to make the ship iinvisible to radar.

Please read the link I provided on the subject and then come back. If you want, start a seperate thread in General Discussion so we can debate this. - Colt

Well then you would force all your enemies to upgrade their weapons. Arming every soldier with a weapons system that can take out PA would be nearly impossible. Just because a weapons system exists that can counter a defensive system does not make the defensive system worthless.

My god, at first look I thought he's f*cking that lil girl on the second picture. Phew...

I'm not sure... how can that show the strength of the thing?
After all, are asian girls known for their weight?
And look at her, she's not exactly fat...

I'm a geek and I could probably throw you a good distance. :P That's not a "little girl"... She has breasts and doesn't look too young. This is why some guys have such a fascination with Asian girls. - Colt

Being able to throw me any distance disqualifies you from being geek...

Plus, everybody knows that Japanese chicks are in fact made out of lead...

Alright, I'm a crazy Alaskan who has an absurdly deep knowledge of firearms and can throw puny geeks several feet if need be. Who wants some?!

Ok, being serious...

Hmm... I was wondering about the same. This whole suit weighs 15kg, a girl -- not more than 50, and that guy ~ 70 (+15). They should give him 100kg boxes or some heavy weaponry to carry on.

By the way, I've seen a better real-life Power Armor somewhere in the web. :D
