I would play the hell out of New Vegas done that way. Maybe add in an MGS style ability to where you can use binoculars or scoped weapons to view first person? Are there any good mods that put NV in iso view? Preferably with reworked gameplay for it.

I’m no modder but I think I can say with confidence that converting New Vegas to isometric gameplay is outside the scope of the GECK.

The engine can handle it, but the assets will need tweaked, as many ceilings have clutter objects like duct-work, and piping. These would have to be made to fade when seen from above.

Ah, I stand corrected. Still, there are many obstacles to this, such as the fact that enemies would be able to attack you from off-screen, though I suppose if you zoom out far enough then that wouldn’t be an issue.

Well, it's kinda possible with Fallout 4.

Someone did this without even really trying if I remember correctly. Just playing around with the camera position. Some dedicated people could probably create a complete "top-down" view trying to go for a style that's at least similar to iso-metric.

And then with a bit of coding magic ... one might even get a true turn based experience.
 
Klamath? Very cool. It's impressive work but there is something a little off about all of his pieces and I can't put my finger on it. Something that misses the vibe.
 
Textures being off I'd assume. Crazy how much textures can do for a game and its atmosphere.

Yeah but I don't know what it is that's off about them. It's not just them being different because I've seen F1/F2 remaster mockups before that looked right.
