Refueling the car in Fallout 2

When I first got Fallout 2, I didn't have the Internet, and I don't think Per's guide existed. I'm not sure. Back then I was buying guides off the shelf when I bought them. I have the guides for Fallout, Fallout 2, Doom, Doom II, Quake II, Interstate '76, and a few others. When I got the internet, I found Game F.A.Q.s (www.gamefaqs.com/) and never spent more than $1 on a guide after that. (that $1 was for the guide to Command and Conquer -Red Alert 2, which I picked up an extra copy of at a yard sale from a stack of CDROMs. They threw in the guide.

Wow Lord! You are ( were :P ) one dedicated player. I think I have almost bought game guides for UFO: Enemy Unknown and Terror from the Deep. And that was like in 92-95. Those games were soooooo addictive. And I still like them. But they were also quite difficult/challenging.

My car ran out of fuel on the Vault City sector. Now i can't figure out how to get to it. It really was a 100 to 1 odds kind of thing. I don't really mind traveling around on foot everywhere, but my excavator chip, GECK, several weapons, armor, tons of ammo, and who knows how many holodiscs were in the trunk... Does anybody know a way around this? preferably without a hack or mod.

He meant it was INSIDE the Vault City city circle I think.

Odds are youre fucked, just load an old savegame.

Weeeell hell....he could have atleast told that a bit more clearly. Well, have you tried looking EVERYWHERE in the Vault City map areas? I mean like eeeeverywhere?

I don't have an old save... Is there any way to hack it if its totally necessary? I mean i'm not to clear on how the game is saved, but what file stores where your car is, and is it possible to edit it?

SIDENOTE QUESTION, I never completely finished the game before, do i need the Geck to win?

NOOOOO! I just found out that i left the Nav-com Controller in the car... can anybody help me figure out how to get to my car???

Yeah, I've been gaming my whole life. First computer game I ever played was "Bowling" on a Digital (DEC) VAX 11/780. I was 4 or 5 at the time. Anyway, I think modern game guides have really gone down in caliber -take for instance, the guide for Doom and then Doom II -the difference is amazing. The Doom guide blows away the Doom II guide. It's almost always better to go to Game F.A.Q.s. The people who write guides for free usually care enough to do at least a decent job. Usually.

Sorry man, I think you're screwed. If the car circle is inside the VC circle, maybe you can try playing with the screen scroll to scroll the city circle off the map but not the car circle, but I never had that happen so I never tried. It's worth a try, but AFAIK there is no way to hack your save to restore your car -it's most like irretrievably lost.

That's why you should use SEVERAL save slots. You can only blame yourself for your stupidity.
