Replayability or glitchy games?

To many of you, this is not news, you know you could escape the vault as a baby and mess up the game, however the article makes some other points besides that.

Fallout toddler <blockquote>"The 'Fallout 3 Baby' and other similar glitches represent something in between – an unintended hiccup that allows players to see the game in a whole new light, transforming the narrative and mood into something completely different, and in some cases, creating a whole new kind of game."</blockquote>

That's retarded. -_-

Sing Along - Follow The Bouncing Baby!

Is there a FO3 Easter Egg Compilation -- yet?
Are the spread sheet cells cross referenced to the desecrate value judgement loci of The Good, The Bad, and The Baby?

Perhaps this lack of adult supervision rates a Happy Accident Demarkation!
A new break through in video game hand holding!
In Oblivion the happy cake eaters could win at Level One-- correct?
In FO3 the Chocolate Milk target demographic can smell victory in the morning as a BABY!

But this exploit may be truly SPECIAL. A true happy accident! The shot gun seat of honor on the nex gen short bus!

Recall. After the first play, my best FO replays were Jinxed Trait-ed, (thanks Per), really put that NPC scripting to work.
Made one seriously consider a special dispensation to an Iron Man run when the lone .223 hand gun self destructs ...

Is this Baby Run a Glittering Gem in the 256 shades of beige desert of 21st Century video game 'normalcy'?

While the judges gnash and grind this out in that infamous level of hades, - The Smoke Filled Room - ,

please feel free to sing along to the tune of ""Happy Anniversary"".

Happy, happy accident
Happy, happy accident
Happy, happy accident

HAPPY--Y, happy accident!

Well their point about Fallout 3's glitch is BS, I feel. But glitches can sometimes make a game more fun than intended - look at Tribes and the physics bug that allowed skiing.

Or the bug in Quake that allowed Rocket Jumping. That was a genuine bug that enhanced gameplay and influenced how FPS games are made.

To put the "play Fallout 3 as a baby" in the same league as that would be pretty dumb, so I'm glad the author wasn't a real gamer and didn't try to make that comparison.

Fallout 3 is so awesome ... even its bugs will let you already jump out of the window due to excitement ...

Try jumping with the Fat Man.

After playing Fallout 3 for awhile, I wanted to try to jump with the fat man, in real life.

I didn't have any idea you could escape from the vault as a baby... that's retarded!
How difficult could be to beta test the possible ways of getting out that room with dad, before release? It's freaking easy! Jeez...

That's a terrible bug that doesn't add anything at all.
People already said it, rocket jumping, Tribes skiing, those are all little hitches that somehow added depth to their respective games.

This on the other hand, is stupid. It's like being able to go beyond the borders of Oblivion's worldmap and seeing a massive expanse of nothingness. There is no deeper gameplay experience, only shame.

Shame and anguish.

Especially when they consciously threw actual replayable elements like "stupid dialogue" out. And they get credit for this? When you can fight your way out of a Vault as an infant, it's not a glitch - it's Mickey Mouse game design.

This is actually what's wrong about games that railroad and restrict you too much. You can easily find a way to screw it up.
Especially when the testers did anything but testing.

I'm surprised such a glitch was even discovered in the first place, this can be done on the console version too without console commands?

Well at least while playing as a baby, you can pretend the NPC's sound stupid and uninteresting because they're talking to a baby and not because they didn't bother to write interesting dialogue or develop a plot or anything like that

Hm, this is such a crater in quality that if it is indeed a bug, that speaks a ton for BethSoft quality department... However, I am inclined to believe this was left on purpose, you know, Todd-style humour and stuff...

They would have bragged about it or blown it off as minor if they knew about it so I'm guessing that it's simply another bug they missed to add to the mountain.

Why? I would never try 100 times (you see he is trying more than only once) to leave the room when random npc xy comes in.

It's just a small glitch, who cares about it? The game will not get more bad because of this.

Some posts really look like "hey, now I have new stuff to play angry Fallout fan!!!11" Man... this is just a dude who tried to leave the room 100 times... They say in the article that players do the same with Mirrors Edge and so on. Is this then also a sign of a bad quality department of the companys?

It's a stupid glitch that should have been caught but I agree, it's minor and ultimately doesn't matter. This isn't like the dock glitch in Morrowind (if you try to jump the rail you get caught in a seem from which you can't escape) or as important as the crash to desktop, VATS, NPC suicide, or most other bugs. It's yet another bug to add to the pile but it's more of a stupid thing that shouldn't have slipped through QA rather than a bug which has any priority in addressing in patches. Still, as long as this is news posted, let's have our laughs at Beth's QA  .
