RPGWatch feature: The Great Debate: RT or TB?

Well, if that's only what you managed to understand, too bad... not the first time in our conversation that you totally miss what is being said to you, shout and laugh about how stupid it is what you didn't understand, and when it's explained, you make a presumptuous remark with the judge-but don't be judged routine. Oh well, this time I'll leave it for you to figure it out, good talk, thanks.

Talking of FoT, wonder if Bethesda will attempt similar choice of RT, RTwP and TB. Assuming they're not going to go with FPS, that is.

When we know whether they're going to use FPS or not, this argument will sort of settle itself. Or at least become a moot point.

No, really, I didn't miss anything. You're justifying every single design decision in there with 'Eh, worked for me' with the added annotation of 'Could work for a different setting!!'

Hell, you say so yourself:
"again, my whole point from the beginning. just because someone likes one system much more than the other, of he believes one system has much less flaws than the other, doesn't mean all others don't have right to exist."
I'm sorry, what are you bitching about?

...I love the turn based combat of FO1 and FO2, but having options to have 'fast computer turns' where the computers moves happened faster would be good.

It is good. There is an adjustable slider for this very same purpose in FO1 & 2. It might not speed things up enough for those A.D.D. types, but it works great for those of us with normal (average) attention spans.

IMO, Baldur's gate and infinity engine sucks big time. Most overrated RPG in the history besides Oblivion :P

Ditto. If there were a Nuremberg-type trial attempting to bring to justice those who have perverted or destroyed the meaning of "cRPG", I'd bet Biowhare would be high on the list of offenders.

I like having the ocasional really big battle going on where you are allied with one side and fighting another, but it just plays out to slow in FO, if you could fast forward the computers turn (as an optional setting that can be adjusted to different speeds) it would make mass combats more appealing.
Sure it would. But Fallout is not about how fights seem epic and stuff. Fallout is about how their brains splatter all over the space  Remember that. Always.

That's what's great about Fallout's combat (among other obvious things of course). Bloody Mess perk is THE perk, and still, i never played with it, but it must be something to see

I had turn-based sex this afternoon. No, really - my girlfriend and I took turns (nearly) pleasuring eachother, and hence managed to make it last for an hour or six, seven. I think this was what they call 'tantric sex' - it was fatiguing, frustrating and even a tad painful near the end - but it was still strangely fun.

Yet - I still prefer 'real time with pause' sex - as it means fun for both partners at the same time, without one having to 'cool down', as it were. It still alows you to have whole afternoons of sex, tho' - so I guess it's the golden middleway.

Now, real-time without pause sex is of course still my favorite. It's just that my g/f is so insationable she really does want to have sex hours in a row, so RT sex gets intensely fatiguing after a while....

Just my two cents.

We're talking about the other head working, not the lower head  Sex is NOT the same as RPG's...

Even though RTwP can work and I've played games that I consider fairly fun that has it (IWD and PS:T are the first to come to mind) it could've been equally fun with a fast, easy interface.(and I'm only talking about the combat here)

If I'm allowed to map the KBD to my liking for fast access,so I press the inital of char. -T for example- and can map H to heal self and A to heal all,it'd be as effective as RTwP.(while still allowing the combat to be RT)

For offensive spells you can have the char's stats decide which is the best for the char and just press the mapped key to go to the best spell "T" has for that.(or even rearrange it to your liking during the slow moments,by putting the one you want to use as "O" with that char as first choice)

That would work for action"RPG's",but for a true RPG there's nothing that can replace TB in my book.(since I play a role, the characters abilities should be what counts and not that I'm fast with mouse and KBD due to years of FPS gaming)

No, we role-play too sometimes.

She especially likes the whole nurse-patient thingie-majingie.

Reading through this thread was watching two people fight, one talking about RT or RTwP and the other talking about how stupid the first one is when he is talking about RT or RTwP, and someone starting to compare sex to combat role playing games.Sex has no comparison.

Aside from that, my 2 cents.

In F3, I think Bethesda should not include a switch in the options menu titled "RT/TB Combat", no, what I propose is much more fun.

In the Traits section, they should add two more traits:

TB RPG Nerd.

RT RPG Kiddie.

I'd love that, even for the pictures.

Lol, no need for details :P Anyway, the acronic RPG is composed of 3 parts: ROLE (yep) PLAYING (no problem here) GAME (which is the part that sets sex apart from RPG ;) )

Well... We do make it a 'game' too, sometimes. Especially when we role-play medieval times, and my penis is a knight's lance and her vagina the Great and Terrible Dragon.

Good times, good times.

OMG. Then again, I was not talking about that kind of game. It's Video Game here :?

Turn-Based when it relates to an RPG such as FallOut..... I have no time for a three paragraph thesis as to why :)
