Rumor: Fallout 3 (Australian) release date confirmed

Hi, welcome to 2003, you might want to see this cool movie called 28 Days Later.

I trust Valve to make good games they always do a great job. Left 4 Dead looks fine, it's a shooter, so you don't expect a deep story. They are infected, not zombies, thats why they "don't even act like zombies" because they are not. Zombies shamble and eat your brains. Infected, run and just rip people apart. Capcom's zombie formula is out the door anyway, they even call them infected in RE4 and RE5, and Capcom the masters of zombie games has jumped on the bandwagon of fast, infected people coming after you, or have you not even played RE4?

How so? Beth has alienated Fallout's fanbase (All they've got left are TES fans now), and since gamers tend to be eclectic with their gaming genres of choice; What do you think they're going to be more willing to spend their money on? A+ titles like Fable 2 (RPG) and L4D (Shooter) or a failed homogenization of the two with a pipboy? I can't wait to see a press release blaming piracy for Fo3's shitty sales.

Also: Bad troll is bad.

Judging by the way Oblivion sold, the Elder Scrolls fanbase is all they need to make enormous profit. I think they will do even better than Oblivion this time, because despite their major shortcomings on the Fallout genre, I know a lot of Fallout fans that will buy it regardless.

The way Oblivion sold? Howard fed us all a bullshit sandwich. That's why it sold.

As for the fanbase being all they need to make an enormous profit: Tell that to Atari. I'm sure with that little kernel of wisdom, Alone in the Dark 4 would have been a blockbuster hit.

A lot of Fallout fans are going to buy it? Wha?

Are these the "I once watched a friend's cousin's hairdresser's brother play the demo for 2 minutes" kids you find on the beth boards, or the "I've played through series ~15 times" fans? I'm guessing the former.

With the press demo being startlingly unimpressive, they're going to need A+ reviews to get those magical sales you're talking about.

As for the topic at hand: I would think that beth would want to make it their priority to get Fallout 3 on shelves everywhere simultaneously so they can get some hype sales before the reviews hit.

I was noticing how much they reminded me of that movie, except in the scenes where I seen dozens of them running at the player, it looked like they were moving funny or something. It looked more like a player made mod than something Valve would make.

Yeah, Portal was good.. considering the price. Pretty short though. I waited and got the Orange box (reduced, at $40), because I knew Valve/Sierra would release a bundle like that at some point. L4D also looks like a $20 (or less) mod that I should wait on. Maybe they can bundle it with Episode 3 sometime in the future. $30 for both sounds fair. :P

RE4 was good. They still seemed like zombies. The difference is (between RE4 infected and 48 days/L4D infected) they were hosts to a parasite. L4D just looks like a bunch of random people running after you for a lynching. If it's got monsters in it then it might be more appealing to me. Otherwise.. the same effect might be accomplished in a western themed game, where you have a huge bounty on your head and you wonder into this huge camp of desperate miners who are only armed with rusty picks and they all want that bounty whether they die or not.

Also, I'm not sure if you noticed or not but there are a number of RE fans who'd like to see a return of the regular zombies and are disappointed with the direction of RE5.

Okay I should probably shut up about this now, regardless of replies, so I don't get fussed at for being soooo very OT. lol

Edit: I've looked up more videos for it, and those are better than the ones I first seen. My value of the game just went from $10 to $30. So yeah.. it does look pretty interesting, especially the info at http://www.l4d.com/info.html concerning randomly generated events.

Not to further derail the thread or anything, but watch the first of these three videos (watch the HD versions if you aren't on 56k, it's worth it) and that'll give you a good feel on how the game plays. It is much more refined than previous vids show.

The 'randomly generated events' are one of the biggest draws to the game, as it guarantees no two playthroughs will be the same (I know, I know, we've all heard that before, but if someone can do it right; valve can).

L4D is going to be great..and if you say otherwise then maybe coop gameplay is not for you
