S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 cancellation tidbits

So it was canceled twice now?

I think the last time was followed by rumors that it wasn't really cancelled. This is still rumors in its own way, I guess. But it's done done done.

More curious to know what exactly is up with the IP.

I had a strange feeling of deja vu when I read this newspost, could have sworn I saw the same headline all over a month or so ago.

Oh well, I never really understood Stalker anyways. As for Beth grabbing it, no surprise really. Probably all about keeping theirs the only post-apo fps on the market.

Yep, same here, man. After reading Strugatsky brothers' "Stalker"... well... the game just doesn't feel right.

At this point we're more likely to see Prey 2 come out. Another game fucked by Bethesda.

Prey 2 kinda looks cool to me, but I haven't followed it closely. The original was pretty fun.

Is it to early for kickstarter?

According to the GSC Game World twitter account, it wasn't a problem with money, but rather a problem securing the IP license. So, uh... yes?
What rumor mill? I really wouldn't even care if Bethesda obtained it - I'd rather have more of their games than something resembling Ubisoft's always-online DRM. To be fair, always-online DRM for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was also speculation.

Not sure what is true regarding the Stalker rights. Some are saying Bethesda owns them now, others are saying they don't.

Well, all the official STALKER people comments seem to be "Bethesda doesn't own them". Only rumors say they do. Seems fairly clear-cut.

That isn't true. Read the link.

Edit: Sniped. Damn you Brother. Are you some sort of AI created to monitor NMA?

Bummer. I liked the first games, even if they had their... let's say quirks. An MMO, whatever the shape or form, simply doesn't interest me.

Shame, the Stalker series was one of my favorites in the last decade. Great games... wish they would have gotten more love, sales wise.

CoP is still one of the scariest, most atmospheric games I've ever played.

I agree, for me its the only game besides Amnesia and FEAR that have ever kept me scared. Great atmospher, first two games were buggy until several patches through (Call of Pripyat had no issues for me at launch).

I'm glad Bethesda didn't get it, but I sure hope I don't have to settle for MMO Stalker :(
