It took them way, way too long, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has finally been patched to 1.0004. It has quite a list of fixes, too many to copy here. If you've got them game, I advise you to go and grab the patch.

Thanks Kukident.

about friggin' time...

maybe i'll reinstall the game & wrestle with the fucking DMR system again, trying to make it work.

A little piece of advice for those who concern:

Throw this "patch" to the nearest garbage can. GSC sucks.

1. Many mods dont work with that patch.
2. In few cases there is fps increase indeed, about 8-9 frames, but at most occasions game works only worse.
3. Changes are minimal and - once again - there is no "freeplay" after ending.
4. Most of its content were taken from fans mod's code.
So, guess copy/paste work could be really hard duty sometimes - and may be that explains why it swallows so much time to output this another scheduled "patch".

Glad someone cleared that up .
I had a question about the 1.0003 patch.whenever i install this patch the lightning at the beginning of the game gets fucked up .
can anyone explain why ?

I was stretchin the game through, and as started it, I've installed the stalker itself and then it is been patched from 1.000 to 1.003 and I've never met any problems with the game - mean main plotline - or animations.
Actually, the second name of the stalker is "sack full of bugs", so the only suggestion I may give you (unless you don't wanna throw game cd to furnace and sure that your system/drivers ok) - try to reinstall and than build up 1.000 version of a game with 1.003 patch.
I know - this doesn't sound like the wisest advise, but do you really lusty for manual correction of basicly lame code?

Wasn't this suppose to be the freeplay one? :(

No. They said, that the freeplay mode comes with patch 1.1.

Meh, figures, nothing but a ploy. Modders have already come so far with STALKER, that I am not even interested in any such 'free mode' they have to offer...

Someone had modded their own free mode apparently. But it seems a lot of mods no longer work with this patch installed and neither do the tools used to create those mods.

Well... I (and lots of other people) lost the interest in Stalker modding... I created my antigas-armor mod and yes.. that's it.. I think, I would still create mods for stalker if there would be a SP SDK... but mah, why they don't release the damn SDK? The MP SDK is a kind of useless thing..

Well the patch is not really anything good. The mods dont work...All the community effort was thrown away basically.

Lexx, your mod was fantastic, thanks for your work.

Anyway, I don't like the game and fuck games that make you eat, what the hell.

you know, with as often as people mod games, and as often as patches break said mods, you would think people would EXPECT this by now...

if you are complaining about patches ruining mods, you obviously have not been playing games very long, or you are just being a whiny bitch because you are too stupid to have a fucking clue why...

if a patch breaks the mod, its not the game creators fault, its the mod makers fault, and its the players fault.

i never had any stutter with my x1950 Pro

Good for you, I could play it fairly well on high settings, but for no apparent reason the framerate drops to 3 /4 fps sometimes. (unless I use static lighting of course)
