SA reviews Restricted Area

I don't mind if Masterblaster/-bater enjoys playing RA, and I'm sure most people here don't mind either. Thing is, NMA is a CRPG community, and therefore not the right place to praise hack'n'slash games. It's somewhat like swearing in church. Believeing that you'll get positive feedback is quite far fetched.

By the way, it's pointless posting babelfish translations when trying to make a serious statement. I understand German fairly well, and my English is pretty good too. Babelfish lingo is a no-go however. It's amazing how one can not notice that the below statement makes no sense whatsoever;

This stupid gnarzige Geschwaetzigkeit is at least just as actually unbasiert as the acceptance of the industry over success and/or failure prospects determined computer games.

Really? thank god i don't even post in the games forum there ( and generally i prefer to steer away from serious discussions there anyway). by the "spat" you mean the thread about fallout when bethesda announced it would develop fallout 3? so it means you where banned there. news for me, sorry.

I've never been a member of SA, barely visit the place.

The "spat" happened when someone passed us on a post from a Bethesda developer on SA in which he made fun of the Fallout fanbase. Apparently he had a warning in his profile that he should not be quoted as a Beth dev outside of the forum. I had no way to know of such a warning as I'm not an SA member (and even if I did a warning in your profile is not legally binding), so I posted it and made fun of him.

SA...took it a bit seriously and ended up not just banning Odin for being responsible for all newsposts on his sites, but everyone related to NMA and for the longest of times after that people's computers were attacked by loyal SA member (I wouldn't know, I was in Russia by that time)

SA is like the paid public toilet of the internet.

Well, yeah, we're stuck with us German-speakers then. Hell if I have the time to translate the entire thing. Ey, Ratty?

Eeeek! Ratty knows German!
It's not like that! I... I was young, I didn't know any better...

It's not like that, really. It's perfectly acceptable to praise hack 'n slash games here if they are well-made (and good hack 'n slash games do exists, they just aren't called Restricted Area). But when someone comes in, praises a poor game without naming a single redeeming feature and even has the audacity to bash the entire community because they don't share his shitty taste in games, now that's unacceptable.

Was that a request to translate the entire article? If so, I will be happy to oblige.

Not for me. I definitely got the gist of it. They're haters, they are.

... nma is getting a bad name in the community already. ...

Soon, soon, soon,

in these last days,

NMA will cash in on it's street cred.

The FUTRUE shall belong to '' thee ''.

All registered acolytes, and yea, even the LURKERS will wallow in bounty.

Marketeers will grid lock the PM channels of all mods. Offers will 'run-neth' over.

Their terrestrial mailboxes will gush forth with ''Freebees''.

A divinely subtle script will spin a matrix of our posts and conveniently offer us, not one size fits all -cheesy japanese cartoon flashes, like at SA, but individually, direct links to ''L.L.Bean'' flannel fashions, or the inner most, unconscious fetish at ''Victoria's Secret''.

NMA will know, --- and share ---, the color of your sweetest 'Freudian Slip', in any power to weight ratio you desire ......

My - pits - are soggy in anticipation.

Wow. This game must really suck.
I'll lbe avoiding this game, then.

Anyone here actualy PLAY the full version of this game? On a scale of 1 to ! how bad does it suck? Does it suck and blow at the same time, or does it merely blow chunks?

A friend bought it. After laughing my ass off at him i wanted to try it.
It's like diablo without the fun and with jerky animations.
And bionics instead of armor.

It is basically an unpolished version of Diablo set in cyberpunk, with a backstory you might as well ignore. For all its simplicity, Diablo and Diablo II both had a backstory that seemed to fit into the level design, versus feeling like some poor bastardization of Diablo and a Rogue clone, but with far less playability of either one.

Okay, just to drop by (hate getting late to "arguments" but it's been a tough week):

I Played restricted area, it really, really sucks, and i mean, i still play diablo 2, i play most of the "Snowblind" engine games on my pstwo (you know, baldur's gate dark alliance and whatnot, tough to my defense i mostly play them on 2 player hot-seat) so you'd expect i would like if anyone would. But it's crap, it's ugly, the items are all the same, the special abilities are completely innocuous (i'm still waiting for a game to make something as cool as the good old frozen orb).

On that same note: I'll be acquiring a copy of FO:POS soon, gonna play through all of it, write a mini walkthrough for you guys.

I just reread the whole "HayT slips up and NMA gets the blame" thread, great fun. It's been nearly a year, we should have a big fight like that again to liven things up.

I'm sorry to hear the game was so poor. Been waiting for another decent PA/cyberpunk RPG to play around with. I guess it won't be this one.

I guess i'll wait for The Fall, and hopefully it'll be a decent game, and hopefully they'll have all the bugs worked out by then.

The RA review was a funny read though. If only all reviews were that honest.
