Scenery stuff and such...

Anyway, if you haven't gone through this already, I thought you might work with it - making the street more darkish in general, so it could blend with the nightlight.., or something like that. ~Just a thought...
If I'll make the street darker to fit into the night then it will not fit into the day.

Not to mention that there's a few level of darkness, so I'd need produce variants for each level and later via script replace one variant by another one.

Not going to work.

Also, this will be additional annoying work to fit everything, and I'm already doing a lot if it.

Not worth an efforts.

Anyway, fuck this, I'm not going to search/make any workarounds to fix something which should be disabled by one click in Mapper :wall: :violent:

I did some thinking and basic testing with raised highway thing where player can walk under it.

Front pillars could work as they should, but back unfortunately no (highly possible overlapping between them and road on the top). So, this idea must be crossed and forgotten.

--------------------------EDIT

Not to mention that I'd need to split pillars into the pieces (since they're too large), and this could bring more problems with correct working.

Hmm. But if the player can only walk ontop of it, then it would work and would just be a kind of visual thing (see cathedral in Fallout 1 as example). I think, I would like it. :>

Walking on the top will work for sure (the only problem would be: how to get there :D), but I was more interested in making walking under it thing. And of course both variants in one couldn't work for sure.

---------------------------EDIT

Using tiles (roof thing) could resolve all problems with walking under, even you could insert some custom walls there and put NPCs (and make unique looking location), but TONS of 80x36 thing isn't a good idea and never going to happen

Another worthy project, mr. Countie? This really is on a BGE gfx list in a long-term plans, so heeey, it's truly monumental. :D

Anyway, this apparently works when used FO2 black road tiles as a roofs (?) on the wooden pillars (scenery) and the black area under this shit is obviously blocked. Zobbie alerady realised this in cca 2007. Just FYI.

Any screenie?

Anyway, as I said earlier (EDIT thing) using tiles could resolve all problems + could add more possibilities, but not going to happen.

Or like the dock of SF in 98.

The only way I see to have the two options would be to have one map when you walk on it, with the art as an object.
And another map, where only the pillar are scenary, and the road is composed of roof tiles.
When you climb/descend on the high way, you would actually switch map.

Of course that would mean having twice the same art under different form (cut differently, etc, etc), and making the scripts for the critters would be funny (if X killed on map 1, then disappear in map 2, etc, etc)

Would that be doable?

Edit : i am stupid, just using the tiles would do it, but you said that's not going to happen. Well, I still would like to see it as ey candy in game thougth!

From my point of view making two variants of the same thing (in terms walk on it and walk under it) isn't such a big problem (just twice more work with cutting/adjusting). But trying to combine both things into one map... well... I don't know... :D

Yeah, Grays' right. Who needs screens when you've got SF? :P

Anyway, to be good ol' kind lizzie today:

Yeah, but on this art there'll be no black, shitty thing, also distance between ground and the top will be twice longer (or even more) than in SF... so, it must be filled with something to prevent getting there.

Anyway, why to hell do we need this raised highway?

a) just an eyecandy,
b) to get through canyon/river/whatever,
c) remember Johnny Mnemonic movie and those guys who lived on the bridge? I liked this concept, the same may be done here, but instead of bridge, there'll be a highway!

Heavy guarded area, which may be used as observation point, or for storing important things, or place where leaders are living. Very good point of defend against raiders or any other danger. So, basically you can build a small "town" there with NPCs, etc., where you can't just enter, since some kind of rope should be dropped to allow the player to get there. AFAIK someone already figured out how to use ladder without loading new map.

Everything can be resolved via scenery, without using this shitty 80x36 thing, am I right? Or not?

And of course it's only a planning/thinking for now, not Yay! I'll do it! Yay! Yay! thing, since I still got that subbie thing on my back ;)

What about... big flying nazis!

Basically, every good retro future city has something similar.

Everything can be made via scenery if you are good in limiting PC's access to when's it adequate. If you really think over about it, you'll probably realise that PC's freedom is pretty overrated. :)

Still no yay? No yay any more? And what about yey?

Yeyey.

And what about... Nazis in their flying UFOs! Or better: green, lizard like Nazis flying in their UFOs between highway and a fucking Moon!

Where do you have a good retro future city in this past-gen engine? Where? I didn't notice anything like that.

Seriously, I'm not talking about what's the role of a highway in retro futuristic world, but about role of it in damn game!

I know that, but I must be sure before thinking/planning/doing anything with town on a highway thing.

Contie, no such area is planned, at least for BGE. I meant rather something like a highway overpass slowly decreasing to position of a normal fallouty road.

More or less like this, just in a much more megalomaniac version?

(This is, by the way, one of a tons of dead Ghostus' early projects)

Anyway, look, you scum: :P

Truly a sexiness, I'd say.

I don't know... slowly increasing/decreasing thing could cover more than half of the map (or even all) if I'll use that high placed highway variant...

And I'd say: move that barriers like things more to the outside since they're standing on the asphalt (which is covered by sand).

I know, but I still consider it worthy of pestering. Or are you gonna return back to a great age of epic posterizations?

But I'd like to see you modifying/creating rock and cliff related stuff anyway... But you know it, you crazy bitch from fucking Wroclaw! :lalala:

Still... pretty damn good for a 30 seconds "long" work...

If you want to make more butchering with your TC then hire someone else for posteriztion, I ended with this shit: no more retarded (and shitty looking :P) posters, you poster obsessed bitch from Czech Fucking Republic! :lalala:

It would be quite tricky to make new cliff/rocky-wall. That existing one is looking somehow strange... I have no idea how to make (very quick) something similar... Also, I thought someone from your team is already doing that :o

What a memory, mistr Damn Pole. 256 kB of RAM, I'd say? :o

He's actually working on this viking related shit and then he might be moving to BGE again, but as a town art / ending screen guy - I just changed my poor lizardous mind. Not the right guy for an ingame graphics, right? We need him motivated at work he loves to do, right? And it's definitely not thinking about stupid fucking retarded FO's engine, right? :o :o

Anyway, I somehow feel we'll be talking over this rocky thing so, sooo soon. You're gonna love it, you weird guy from Wroclaw! Or maybe not.
