My problem with PS:T and why I never get more than 3 screens out of the mortuary, is that EVERY npc can be talked to for like 5 minutes, and I don't want to miss anything because im neurotic like that, and then I get sidetracked into some random quest I probably should'nt be doing at level 2...

This might help…

wtf dude... this is a MODERN game, we shouldnt need pen and paper to play a RPG... thats what quest journals are for! thats what maps with markers are for!

old games require mapping shit out and stuff... not new-age games!

how dare you suggest something so last-gen :D

Gee, how am I supposed to role-play if the game doesn't constantly show me where to go and who to talk to??? Laaame.

(PS:T is one of the only games where I actually used pen and paper to write down bits of information found in dialogues. Thoroughly interesting world, just draws you in with its weirdness.)

I remember when almost all cRPGs required you to write things down. You'd never find your way out of some of the dungeons in Wizardy and The Bard's Tale without mapping every "square."

In PST I found it helpful to write down the numbers on the zombies. Just a hint for new players.

I remember mapping out Bards Tale when I was a kid…I just had to visit every square inch of the game so I wouldn’t miss anything…*a tear rolls down the cheek*

Pixote, that is an awesome map!

None of my Modron Cube maps (the area I have mapped more times than any area in any other game) looked anything as good. Mine were mostly scribbled on the backs of envelopes.

I probably have a few maps like that stashed away somewhere. :)

The thought of some of the young Bethesda fans trying to play that game is amusing.

Anyone else remember mapping the featureless rooms underneath Krill's fortress in Infocom's Enchanter? What a great little puzzle that was.

Or the glass maze in Sorcerer...

I never made that actual map…but my maps more or less did look the same…that map is the actual map from the game designers when they worked out the layout of the various areas in Bards Tale. Those were the days when an actual pen and paper made a difference…but auto-mapping is pretty cool as well. Below is the street map…nice.

Your stalwart band approaches...

Good times, it wasn't until you got underground that you needed to bust out the graph paper. Man, graph paper was like gold at that age.
