First time out of the vault
The Road is amazing, and I do sort of see it in the exterior designs of Fallout 3, but other than that the game really has nothing of the atmosphere of the novel ... perhaps mainly because the game is crawling with chattering people everywhere.
Much as I love Fallout New Vegas, the "twangy accents" felt like a distraction to me, dictating to my imagination that I should view this as primarily a Western story. Then again, I have never been a fan of excessive voice acting, due to the various limitations it imposes on content and variety in any given RPG.
