shameful music

Around 92-94, I was quite fond of Eurotechno. I have about 10 cds with artists like Capella, 2 Unlimited and Captain Hollywood Project. Apart from a few selected songs, there's only one of them I'd miss if they evaporated: Serenity by Culture Beat (and that one not that much).

Skinny Puppy and NIN are all geniuses and acknowledged as such.

Is it strange that when I admit that I actually like a few songs by HIM (His Infernal Majesty, not Horrible Imbecile Motherfucker), my friends tell me that I'm gay?

master of baiter,
HIM is a great band, and you are just bringing out your emo side. It's ok, embrace it.

Well, since a lot of people here listens to metal, I would assume that New age, Jazz/blues, or classical music aren't in the casual group. Thus VaultD feels a bit out of place. I listen to Enya as well, so no need to feel bad about it. :P

I also listen to Sarah Brightman, whose music and voice makes my ex's bed time joyful screams sound like a whisper. Her latest album, called "Harem" should clue you in.

But I am currently into Asian pop, Japanese in particular. Only in Japan that I can find a song called Lolita, Strawberry in Summer. :D

I like Japanese pop too! I think its just from seeing too much anime though...which reminds me...

What is it about foreign music that sounds so good? I really like instrumental...with no lyrics. Maybe since I dont understand the language it makes it sound like its own instrument. What do you think?

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I like Kaizers Orchestra tho I don't speak Norway...nese or whatever.

I think German sounds rather harsh in speech, but Nena makes it sound quite acceptable. Maybe she could have made Danish sound all right too if she'd been from there.

Yes, people always forget that J-POP also stands for Japanese Polar Orbiting Platform, don't they Baboon?

Actually, it stands for "Japanese Popular music."

I'm a fan myself really. Nothing like playing the entertaining "Guess the gender of the J-Pop star" game with a Japanese magazine or sharing an elevator with a J-Pop band.

Not that I think it's shameful music either.

And there I went thinking J-Pop was something like a KY-Jelly lollipop. Thanks for clearing that up.

Nah, German isn't "too" harsh. It really just depends on the genre. Rammstein are good because the lead singer tends to play on that hard part by rolling the Rs and pronouncing some words in a very crisp manner.
German can sound rather ... fluent -- as Nena and some other pop artists sometimes show. I especially like the word-melodies Goethes Erben produce (although they can hardly be described as pop and aren't even typical musicians either).

I like Kaizers Orchestra because the language and the actual sound of the lyrics goes along well with the actual music..

LOL

No, it's not shameful.

But it's rather amusing to explain to people that the song I am listening to is called, "Lolita Strawberry Summer".

Or love love rasberry juice. :D :P

Back in the 80's there was a TV show that attempted to remake the ole 60's group "The Monkees", titled originally enough, "The New Monkees".

I actually listened to their music back then.

Gods forgive me...
