Sniper build, melee build

Mutant_Rascal

First time out of the vault
Heya guys, so im new in the forum and already completed FO I/II several times and im starti na new game in FO II. I would like u guys to tell me a good sniper build. thnx... :P

P.S: I would like a build so the char ACTUALLY survives
P.S.S: I DID search but didnt find anything :o

Much higher PE for succesful shooting, a bit higher AG, and higher LK for criticals.

ST 6
PE 8
ED 4
CH 4
IN 4
AG 7
LK 7

You also need a little ST to use some of the bigger rifles.

Make sure to pick up the perks for bonus criticals and such.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

mmmm..... IN 4 ? Will i be like Torr talking buddy ? is there any other stat that i can lower to get more IN ?

P.S: wot skills shuld i tag and wot traits shall i choose ?

You could lower endurance and charisma to raise intelligence. Actually thats a very good point since I now remember a great perk that you need six IN to get.

Also make sure to get small guns. Useful on all ranged weapons in the early game, most of the mid-game weapons, and a few great late game weapons.

You might want to get the "Extra tag skill" perk later in the game and choose energy weapons. I did that myself.

The other two tags are up to you. Since you'll have low charisma dont bother with speech or barter. Sneak could be somewhat helpful for positioning and youve got good agility for it. I'd just grab a non-class related skill like outdoorsman or first aid...

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

If I was TVD - and I'm not - but if I was, I'd take the Gifted trait and invest more points into Agility. I would also take Fast Shot as my second trait, but you probably want your sniper to be able to perform aimed shots.

Oh, and don't say "u". This isn't a chatroom.

ok sorry... I will want my char to do aimed shots, so wot would you choose if you were me ? :)

I transformed ths stats so i can get sniper perk at lvl 21 ( I think its 21 or maybe 24 ) to be like this:

7 St
9 Pe
5 En
4 Ch This Stats with gifted trait
6 In
8 Ag
8 Lk

Traits:
Gifted and skilled

Tagged Skills:

SMG
Sneak
OutDoorsMan

Any sugestions ?

Why do you need STR at all? Lower STR and Endurance down to 3 and stack INT. As I learned in another thread, even though you "Don't have enough STR to use this weapon right" you can still overcome that with a high skill score. Which you will have by level 4 (115% Small Guns). Also since you will generally kill things in 1 shot, get 2-3 endurance and get 8-10 luck and finesse. I say Gifted and Finesse with 10 luck and 10 intellegence. Since the sniper rifle takes 7 to do an aimed shot. You only need 7, or maybe 9 AP so you can shoot and reload. But you can never get two shots without a perk, so when I make snipers I usually just get 7 AP only, which like... what 5-6 AG? And get 10 luck and 10 Ing and 9-10 perception.

If I were you, I'd lower ST to 6 and put that extra point to Agility. You need as many action points as possible, since you will be doing aimed shots.

Traits:
Gifted and ... ( still to make my mind )
Consider Small Frame. It will give you extra agility (but effectively an extra stat point you can spend anywhere). It will drastically lower your carry weight, though, so better get that car as quickly as possible.

Also consider a "fun" trait, like Sex Appeal.

Don't tag Outdoorsman, it sucks. Pick something potentially useful, like Big Guns (Bozar is a sniper rifle, too), Lockpick (complements Sneak nicely) or Steal (same).

I take it English isn't your native language so use it.

OK, here we go: My recommendation for you:

4 St
9 Pe
4 En
4 Ch These Stats with gifted trait
9 In
9 Ag
8 Lk

That way you'll be able to max out Luck, IN, AG and PE in the game, and you don't really need to worry about ST anyway - you'll get penalties to heavier weapons, but you can compensate for that with Skills. You could add two points to EN f you like more HPs (Don't leave EN an odd number, the one extra point will have no effect). You could lower CH or PE a bit if you feel like re-distributing points. I wouldn't recommed lowering PE nor LK too low, and certainly don't lower AG (APs!) and IN (esp. if you're Gifted.)

As for Traits, take Gifted and consider some other minor trait like Sex Appeal, Faster Healing, Drug Resistant or Finesse. You might want Small Frame for the one Stat Point it gives (this will however seriously limit your Carry Weight with a low ST.

Tag a gun skill (Small Guns, unless you're a vet and know where to find Guns and Ammo rags), and two skills of your choice, I find Speech (if you want a Diplomat, not rally important for a gunman), Sneak (my recommendation for you), Doctor and Lockpick useful, in that order. Don't take Steal, Throwing, Unarmed (useful, but you can increase it greatly during the game), First Aid (same), Science (same) Repair (same), Outdoorsman (useless), Gambling (useless),

Prepped ? I take it English isn't your native language so use it. :D

'Prepped' means prepared, it's in the dictionary.

Dont i need a bit more ST ? You know, for heavier weapons

You'll get powered Armour and a ST upgrade which will knock your ST up way past what you need for most (all?) heavy weapons. But if you're going for a sniper build I would presume most of your arms would be in the small arms category, moving straight on to energy weapons in late game, by which point you'll have any extra ST you need anyway.

I like your build, but...honestly, instead of taking Fast Metabolism (which is largely useless, as Stimpaks and cash to buy Stimpaks are in abundance, even if the drawback is negligible in FO2), I'd take Finesse and later (after you get the Sniper perk) Mutate! it into Fast Shot. That's my 2 caps...

on your way to getting the sniper perk, you can compensate for the lack in STR by either Weapon handling perk, or just a gain STR perk....

just talking about this makes me want to do it, but whenever i deviate from my normal chars i never make it out of the temple of trials...hmm curious....

These are Level 12 Perks and there are much better perks to be taken at this level and above
