So, there are still people not believing it?

Fun facts - India:

Population: 1.13 billion
Cellphones in use: 1.16 billion
Indians defecating in the open on a daily basis due to lack of toilet: 0.56 billion

Apparently the cellphone has higher priority than a toilet for Indians.
Good luck to anybody trying to persuade people that some hi-tech gizmo is not important, you cannot turn Maslow's hierarchy upside down.

China is a very good example. Us Chinese had to be TOLD to stop fucking.

It is funny we in the west get so much shit, but nobody mentions a peep when people in countries fucking way too much.

Maybe, because every country should have the right to decide on their own, how much they want to fuck!

And if their population starts exploding out of control then they need to stop blaming everything on the west.

That is EXACTLY why I brought up the Chinese. For all their faults, the communist government got the one child policy RIGHT.

SERIOUSLY, people in the states have, on average, 2 kids. How the fuck does that add up when people in extreme POVERTY end up go fucking and having 5+. There is no way to defend that flawed ass logic.

Debatable really. Due to this policy, they run in to a huge demographic problem. Much worse than what Europe is facing right now with it's aging population. Not to mention that China has also now the problem, that everyone prefered to get males - guess what happend when they got girls ... So, now of course some regions have serious issues in the numbers of females. And on top of it, they didn't really fix their issue of overpopulation either.

The issues with females is due to cultural and social ignorance/backwardness. Wives are not and should not, be obligated to take care of their spouses families, that is the SPOUSES job.

I have no right to demand that my wife take care of my aging parents and not hers. The problem is is stupid culture.

Maybe, because every country should have the right to decide on their own, how much they want to fuck!
We should stop foreign aid and increasing medical standards in Africa then, because high birth rates should be counterbalanced by something. Increased productivity didn't work, so maybe we need to go back to high child mortality.

The problem is longer life expectancy from wells, hospitals, only exacerbates the problem. More people living means more mouths to feed and the cycle continues.

The issue is not investment but EDUCATION. Hospitals and wells are great but those who use those those services need to be RESPONSIBLE. More mouths that live means more mouths to feed, so to speak.

Problem with that is, which countries are generally cleaner overall/less polluted?

Is China more polluted or the U.S?

How about India since we are on the subject?

Population directly effects pollution, no different than your analogy about consumption.

When a country becomes more developed, the needs of its people also go beyond the bare necessities. Everyone will want cars, the latest gadgets, etc. thus each household will need more and more energy etc. Those billions in India or China will want to enjoy the same luxuries the developed countries have. The developed countries will be more than happy to provide them with all the stuff they want because that's a huge market for them. Naturally all of this will result in more pollution and less and less natural resources.

Living conditions =/= Consumerism.

I know what you mean, but we often make the mistake to compare our culture with others, like as the way we apply and think about economics is the only and the best way to do things. The so called 'capitalist' way - even if there is no true capitalism, but you get the picture.

I'm not speaking of an imaginary situation. This is something currently happening all over the World, whether in Asia or in Africa. As developing countries get richer, their people start to demand more because they can now afford it. People who could barely afford bikes now want to have cars, and not just one car, every family member wants one, sometimes more than one. There are now many billionaires in China. What do you think they do with all that money? In other words, 1 billion tribal people would pollute the planet much less than 1 million rich people.

i needed the Based Black Science Man to tell me the obvious. how long do until he starts telling people to clean their beds
The main problem is human overpopulation, which not only fucks the environment and destroys the planet and its resources, but also affects human behavior, ultimately affects human evolution in a bad way.
overpopulation isnt the issue its over-consumption

Overpopulation IS the issue, it adversely affects our species as well. Anyway, I'm not here to lecture you or anything, you can believe whatever you want.

One side is saying "We have too many people living on high standards", the other says "We have too many people living on high standards". It's basically the same and the result is a return to a more primitive society, be it by force or through self-imposed austerity.
I don't like this. It would make humanity stagnate, locked in a perpetual semi-agrarian society that can survive forever, sure, but what would be the point? Existence just for the sake of existence? It's a reduction to being animals that live in slightly more complicated nests.
If there's one thing to distinguish us from other animals, it's the drive to innovate, to expand, to evolve beyond ourselves. The conscious effort to do things not done before for the sake of evolution.
In a self-imposed austerity society, could science survive? Would scientists have to beg for every kilowatt of power to run an experiment, every piece of precious metal that's necessary for the setup? Or would it just be outright Luddism, where science is regarded as unnecessary because our fields are thriving and the horses are happy? Not asking "Can we afford to do this experiment?", but rather "Do we need to know?".
That's not a future I want. As a sentient species I think that the one purpose we have is to first strive to gain the knowledge to ultimately root out all superstition, to fully understand the universe, and then to gain the power to control reality on a fundamental level. To kill God, and then become God. The universe might end one day, and someone has to prepare the next one.

Reproduction and survival is the main goal of life, that's what "life" is all about, everything else is secondary. We're nothing but a spark in the universe, if you want to be the brightest spark possible, then destroying the planet you live on is NOT how you do it, that's just stupid. We've been a plague on the planet and it clearly shows signs of sickness. When it dies, we die. If we are a truly intelligent species, we must correct this, otherwise it'll fix itself on its own and WITHOUT us. The planet doesn't need us, but we need it.

Humans can't destroy the planet.
We can change it and we are doing it while destroying ourselves in the process. But even if we get extinct, the planet will survive, and evolve and keep going... Until one day it becomes like Mars or actually gets destroyed by something else of cosmic proportions.

We currently don't have the technology to destroy the planet itself, but we are surely capable of destroying ourselves and the majority of life on the planet along with us. Some bacteria and other small organisms in hard to reach places might survive and then repopulate the planet, but the intelligent life and the civilization would be gone forever. An intelligent species would never take such a risk, but some of us clearly are not THAT intelligent.
