It Wandered In From the Wastes
you're geared up for maximum survival, and you don't have a Pack Brahmin to carry around and arsenal of gear. Just what you could (and would want) strapped across your back, etc. So maybe a limit of one back strapped weapon, and a pair of guns at your hips. What would you bring.

For me, i'd run around in a Bounty Hunters duster, figuring it'd be lightweight and over at least some protection. for my head a stormchaser hat, for protection vs the environment.

for weapons it'd be a hunting rifle across the back (you got to love the stopping power, accracy and downright reliability of it)

on my hips a scopped .44 magnum and a 10mm smg.

What would you gear up with, thoughts?
 
Well...I would wear (if I could get a hold of it that is) a suit of Desert Ranger combat armour, not veteran ranger (don't want to be associated with the NCR then proceed to get shot by the wrong people). I would wear the helmet only sometimes, I don't want to look too threatening. My main weapon would be a hunting rifle for your reasons felspawn. Sidearm, any quickfiring pistol would do, so a 10mm Pistol, only resort to your pistol when you need it and so forth.
 
I would wear the default white undershirt and boxers that everyone in the wasteland wears, and carry a broken BB gun to defend myself with.
 
Something subtle. Raider badland armor(there's a thermos on the left hip), pre-war baseball cap, sawed-off shotgun, and the Survivalist's Rifle.
 
I'd have a couple pistols on my hip and maybe a rifle on my back. The backpack would have mostly water, ammo and maybe some food rations. Food would probably be easier to hunt or find than clean water. If I had any room left I suppose that would be for bottle caps and a blanket.

As for clothes, probably a cowboy hat and something that isn't too heavy because of the heat.
 
I would wear the ranger scarf outfit. For weapons i'd have the brush gun with the forged receiver mod. I'd have the .45 auto pistol and chances knife on my sides. I'd carry caravan lunches and lots of purified water.
 
Desert Ranger Armor, Anti Materiel Rifle for long range sniping, Ranger Sequoia for short range gunfights and Chance's Knife for close quarter combat.
 
T-51b Power Armour, a Gatling Laser, and two Alien Blasters. I wouldn't need to carry supplies, because whenever I needed something, I could just stop by the nearest town and massacre everybody.

Although, for something a little more practical, I would wear Reinforced Sierra Madre Armour. I would carry a Brush Gun, a Hunting Revolver, and a Combat Knife. That's 28 pounds for weapons and armour, and since the Hunting Revolver and the Brush Gun use the same ammo, I could cut down on ammo weight. I could carry 100 .45-70 rounds, which would weigh about 6.5 pounds. Then I could carry around about 10 pounds of food, a first-aid kit weighing about a pound, a surplus of caps, and a few stims in a backpack. All in all, I would end up carrying just under 50 pounds, and I'd have enough firepower to put away anything short of a Deathclaw or a stray BoS Paladin.

Oh yeah, and for everybody saying they would carry an Anti-Materiel rifle, you wouldn't. It weighs 20 pounds, 5 rounds of its ammo weighs a pound, and it would require a hell of a lot of maintenance. Not to mention you wouldn't actually be able to fire that thing standing up, and at any kind of close range encounter, you would be screwed.
 
Probably my usual Merc Grunt outfit, with a desperado cowboy hat. I was never really a fan of armor in NV, and was a big fan of the traditional cowboy look. As for the weapons? Probably my modded hunting rifle, with police pistol.

completely agree with you but who's to say T-51b armor wouldn't require even more maintenance ;-)
 
I would use and sheriff hat and duster...for pistol a plasma defender..and for main weapon a hunting rifle with scope..for supplies i would crry some clean water and benny lighter to put fire on hahahaha Melee weapon chance knife or cosmic knfe huhu
 
Reinforced Leather Armor (light enough to protect and be practical, might dye it to another color than black however, with the Mojave's heat), any sun-protecting hat (a simple cap with ballglasses should suffice) Trail Carbine, .44 Magnum (much less expensive than 45-70 ammo and still packs a hell of a punch with the right ammo) and Chance's Knife just in case. Rest would be essential supplies (looots of water, it's like dakka, never have enough, while food is usually but a gunshot away), with a few Nuka-Colas/Sunset Salsepareilla to keep me awake during the night watch (max 40-45 pounds, even that's hard to haul during a whole day in the Nevada desert).
