Something arrived in the mail today

Good news, I mailed the guy pics and he said he'd send me replacement parts free of charge. That's a lot more than I was expecting. It won't be in time for Halloween but I'll have to make do.

 

Not the best pictures but here's what it looks like so far. It's missing a few details but I didn't have time to really finish it before Halloween. The guy is also sending me replacement parts, so these won't be the final pieces anyway:

Pretty much I just bought a Nerf Maverick (http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/warfare/943c/) from Wal-Mart and spray painted it black. Then I did some dry brushing with "chainmail silver" Warhammer paint that I picked up at a hobby shop. The gun was my first attempt at doing something like that. Can find the paints I used here...

Other than the painting I sanded some of the logos off and also modified it so the barrel would come out further and 'spin' for Russian roulette. Some modding videos on YouTube.

The pipboy used the same base black and then some green camouflage paint:

No wiring here but I'm just using an iPod touch and don't have any of the lights installed.

Probably continue to improve my costume over consecutive Halloweens and likely wear them to PAX East. Playa don't hate.

Because Fallout 3 is my favourite from the series :-p
