Songs that should've been in Fallout 3

Did they have "maybe" in it? I can't seem to remember... heh.

Sorry guys I got mixed up, its A Kiss To Build A Dream On they did not include. It would have been a good addition given its the Fallout 2 intro music, although I think the sound track is excellent as it is.

Cost more than the advertising campaign to get a few decent pub bands to write a song or three?

Modern rock type music in Fallout 3? There would be legions of people complaining like fucking crazy if they included that... yet if they omitted oldschool Fallout-y music like is currently in you would still complain like crazy.

Anything and everything by the Louvin Brothers.

I mean, Virginia? No Appalachian music? Considering what Appalachia and even northern Virginia was thought of through-out the 20's-50's, it's pretty ripe for parody.

I love American music from the 40s and 50s so I liked the galaxy news stuff very much. Some more Rockabilly/Rock'n'Roll like Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran or Wanda Jackson would've been cool. But I guess 3Dog's record collection is somewhat limited.

I think it fits the setting to use 40s/50s music. That's the thing with (retro-)futurism: it always keeps at least some elements of the specific time period because people aren't able to think out of the box to such a great extend. That's what makes fifties futurism look like futuristic fifties.

Well modernish, like reinterpreted versions of 50's tunes. I'm sure even in a 50's future there would be some modification. I mean the cars run on nuclear fusion reactors even though they resemble 50's designs.

I think it's a shame there's no Elvis like Jailhouse Rock or something. It gets a bit modern though I guess.

Agree, there are lots of local bands in small and big cities, that play music from different decades. And also, in 50's future, I don't think people would be listening to a 100 years old music, they would rather make their own, inspired by 50's artists, or make remakes/remixes.

But then, it might not fit to the post-apo 50's future. So IMO, Bethesda should have not made a radio station that's playing 300 years old music, because it gets too quastionable and messy. People might think the Great War was in 1950's, not in 2077.

Yes, 50's music fits for intros and outros (like in previous sequels), but in Fallout 3 is just over used.

I already said, I think it's a moot point. People in 50s sci-fi still sported 50s hairstyles and fashion to a certain extent. Everything works with vacuum tubes. You can't take the fifties out of fifties science fiction. So I don't think the music doesn't fit.

Haha, I love the way some of you will find any excuse what so ever (even contradictory points) to criticize Bethesda. It's pathetic really - there were some issues with the game, some parts were rushed but why do you feel you have to hate it so much.

I thought the radio stations were a really good way of putting nice background music in the game. I guess some people will complain about anything.

It's a radiostation with, what, 10 different songs? If anything, that's not enough.

Whatever man, nevermind.

So what should all of us do? Praise Beth and find only good parts, ignoring the bad ones, so we all can be happy forever and ever?

Take it real man, FO3 is a bad game, and many people proved it here. If people were pointing out only the positive aspects of everything, we would be still riding horses, eating hunted rabbits, and living in wooden shacks.

I disagree, sure there are some rushed parts and parts that could definitely be improved (as there are in anything) but it's still a great game - definitely GOTY by miles.

I don't know why I bother arguing though, since it's clear you are set into your opinion that Fallout 3 is utter shit and Fallout 2 is the son of God.

I am sure someone mentioned Johnny Cash already as well. For the case not:
Johnny Cash "I Walk the Line" live 1959
