South park is right on Bono

The latest South park episode really makes a good point. Bono is a total douchebag, I'm really glad they dedicated an entire episode to making fun of him, it was about time. I don't even think U2 is that good, pretty overrated band IMHO.

South Park went downhill pretty fast after the movie came out.

Before it was just crude humor with an large helping of irreverence.

Now it's essentially a Libertarian cesspool of self-aggrandizing and topic of the week episodes.

It's better than before. More absurd and more extreme. Unless you're a Scientologist child molesting psychic U2 loving homophobic talkshow host and catholic priest, I really don't see how you can be apparently offended by it and call it a "libertarian cesspool". I like it that they make fun of everything.

I didn't say I was offended by it, I said it was stupid because all it does is make fun of things in a completely stupid way, an increasingly Libertarian way.

HA HA! I get it! Al Gore is freaking out over Global Warming!

HUR HUR HUR World of Warcraft is for losers!

I AGREE WITH THEM THAT THE HOMELESS AREN'T PEOPLE! HA FUCKING HA!

South Park is spot on in nearly everything they say, and since the rip on everyone, nobody bothers them.

They're spot on because they don't actually say anything. Their critiques are bland, uninformed and usually so bland and uninterested that they're bound to be completely right, and also completely pointless.

South Park has been rolling downhill since Season 6 (easily the best), and the gentle roll downhill has turned into a tumble since Season 10. Season 11, so far, has been pure and utter unamusing, politically uninteresting, boneheaded and wildly unintelligent crap.

And no surprise, this one is as well. They could have at least tried to get his accent right. Though it has a handful of funny moments, I guess. And Randy is now being pushed forward as the one-trick pony South Park can ride for the laughs, could be worse since Randy is pretty funny.

(By the way, I'm sorry it hurts your feelings that some people think the show's gone downhill, Overseer.)

And it's about crap, again. Parker and Stone must be one of the few mature people who actually think poor, vomit and fart jokes are funny, because there're hardly any south park episodes without any, and full episodes dedicated to it. And no, it's not funny, it's stupid.

Doesn't hurt my feelings, I just think you're wrong. I really don't care about the political or social message or the "I learned something today" speech (I actually dislike it), it's just the absurd humor and the ripping on celebrities that deserve it that I like. Just like the Simpsons has gotten a lot better (I'm disappointed with Family guy though, but American dad is improving too). So quit taking everything so seriously Kharn, lighten up and see the funny. You come off as kind of a boring person.

Overseer, I was about to agree with you...But "The Simpsons has gotten a lot better" prevents me from helping you out here.

It's really the total lack of social commentary nowadays that I like better. And the fact that Homer is a lot more stupid than before. But yeah, plot-wise, they're out of ideas.

I'm with you on this one Overseer , I just love South Park last three seasons :) ( even though I thought that "Le Petit Tourette" wasn't that good : it could have been far more funny with such a topic ) As regards Bono, yeah, it was about fucking time...

Yeah they didn't push it far enough with "Le Petit Tourette". Although "Piss coming out of my ASS!!" was pretty funny.

Oh no, a boring person?! Woe is me!

Anyway, I don't take it seriously, I just like being entertained. South Park was brilliant from Season 5 through to Season 9. It's not my fault they've got steadily worse. I can still laugh about occasional episodes, the Go God Go's were pretty good, Hell on Earth 2006 was really good, I loved Meanbearpig and Tsst.

But if something's not funny, it's not funny. No need for me to try desperately to be entertained by something that's not funny. It's not as if I'm working myself into a fury about Southpark, but Season 11 so far only got a smile from me. Hell, I get the feeling they're just not trying, so meg to them.

The only thing that upsets me slightly is that mediocre series like the Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park keep coasting while some of the greatest comedy series of all time, like Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Darkplace, have fallen. I would be happy to see the former 3 tumble if I could get the latter 2 back. Now that stuff is funny funny.

You could take Darkplace off your wishlist and it would still be a balanced trade. I'd probably have a tougher time giving up South Park than you, but really, they're turning into the Steven King of comedy. And The Simpsons is already there... I honestly have no idea how they even manage to stay on the air anymore. The last time I heard anyone reference a new episode was back around the turn of the millennium.

Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Simpsons just coasts...I guess it has the same network status as soap series now, so it'll coast forever.

Whatever, I'd rather watch just this intro, because it contains more giggles than the average Simpsons episode
