Stances

If the '4 APs' thing is such a big deal SP, then how about if the number of APs it costs to change stance was changed.

If it cost less APs to change stance would you still consider it a bad thing?

That's not really the issue when it's a part of the mechanics that makes a lot of the stance changes moot. It's a far different thing than JA2.

At first I think the idea of different stances could add to the gameplay, But I’m not sure how it would really help, considering the party NPC’s. I mean, I really dislike the idea of direct control of the NPC’s, so I think it would be hard to effectively use the stances if you can’t say the NPC’s to make the same. The only way it could work would be if you have the option of giving some simple in-combat orders to your party members. Like being able to say them to cover or retreat without exerting direct control over them. All and all, I wouldn’t dismiss the idea as bad without further consideration. If well implemented it could be an welcome strategic element to the gameplay…

I agree. Stances worked in JA2 (a classic game) and they sort of worked in Fallout tactics but there were problems as Sp has contnually reminded me. If stances could be implemented prorperly then they would add to the tactical depth and realism of comabat.

I mean it looks good if your RP character can actually crouch behind a barrel rather than stand behind one for the benefit of a extra reduction in your opponents chance to hit. It just looks silly, standing around in the middle of combat, as bullets fly all around your motionless, upright character - stances would help change that.

Standing to crouched = 2AP
Crouching to prone = 2AP

2AP + 2AP = 4AP
sp, I would put that 3APs, you need a less time to go to prone from stand than doing both actions together. When you go to prone, you don't do the same actions as when crounching, the procedure is different.

I'm telling you this from experience, I went through this military training. As a matter of fact, I could never crouch properly and needed more time to do that than prone :D

I like that too. Less Ap for stand->crouch. However, wouldn't it be better to have to have more Ap for chrouch->stand?
For example Stand->Duck 2 D->Crouch 2 S->C 3 C->S 6 C->D 3 D->S 3

Although I did, I found it quitte lame to constantly to duck and stand to fire at an opponent while he couldn't do something in his turn. (Off course, Computer AI was a problem there too..)
