Yea its fucked up. Two of the best games in gaming history will soon be draged down by some clowns at bethesda and blizzard. I do have some hope for SC2 tho. Lets face it F3 is fucked, fucked hard by todd howard :(

I would probaly like to play a FPS starcraft game. Stuck in a bunker while shooting hordes of zergling is fun.

Until today I still can't find any STG game that is as balance as SC.
Rush me with 24 battlecruisers? I can think of many way to counter you :D . Horde of hydralisk? Easy.

Still the choice of LAN game of mine.

Blizzard should ditch the mmo business and go back to make SC2. :)

This is exciting, but I was an offhand comment and doesn't really mean anything. Just because he said he hoped it wouldn't take a this long to release a sequel doesn't mean they are currently working on one.
 
If there was a sequel, putting it in 3d might ruin it, but still would be awesome to play another SC, Protoss rules 8)

Starcraft+Broodwars+Warcraft 3+ The Frozen Throne = Starcraft in the War3 Engine

I have been following this, since they require you to own all the blizzard products involved the company hasn't shut it down yet. Nothing I would by all that shit for, but since I already own / have access to all the necessary games I plan on downloading it when if it ever gets released.
 
Yea, blizzard gave the guys makes the "FreeAft" engine a cease and desest order. The Engine was later resurected and rebranded as "stratagus"

Anyway I stumbled apon this yesterday, it's called "PRIORITY: SURVIVE" and looks pretty similar to Starcraf from the screen shots, I've havent tried the demo yet.

Well, I was thinking that the firebats, marines, and zerg units in Warcraft 3 were a hint of things to come.
As far as Starcraft goes, well I'll just say that some of you may have kicked my ass online more than once.

It's most likely not true since there's no real verification, but still...

A new race and all the old ones getting two new units sounds good. In fact the fact that they emphasize two "new" units tells me that all the other old units will still be there and be the same.

I've always thought that a new Starcraft that just had another race and a few units for the old races would be great without any new graphics or features.

Sadly though the article says they'll discontinue the operation of Battlenet for Starcraft 1. As sad as that sounds considering the game has been free to play online the entire time for almost ten years I think Blizzard has well surpassed their customers expectation. I just hope Starcraft 2 has a map editor that's just as easy to use...I play fan-made maps mostly.

Most of the info that has leaked sounds very plausible imo.

But not the part where they claim that BNET will be put down, i just don't think they will do this as long as there are so many people playing SC. They still have Diablo 1 servers up ffs :D

Im pretty sure SC2 will be out in 1-2 years time.

Looking forward to SC2 as mutch as Afterfall. But those two are like the only games im interested in atm. Maybe Closecombat VI also :)

The gaming industry have been crap for years, and it doesn't seem like its gonna turn any time soon :/
 
holly shizzle this was a good thread to read. I have been playing Star Crack from release and still play it until this day.

I have not played a RTS with as great of a single player campaign as Star Craft.

Thanks for all the links to imitation projects and what not. Not to mention the killer news article. As much as many here hate to hear these words, I hope blizzard goes for the D3 route over SC2 if its one or the other... But I think its logical that they will revisit both worlds soon enough.

Besides adding 1 race and 2 more units for each of the old faction, SC 2 could really use some innovation like destructible terrain (pretty sure it has been done just not sure which game is it...).
