Still no checks

IPLY was supposed to give out payment checks to the IPLY employess today, but according to our sources those weren't issued today. Herve isn't returning any calls or taking any, guess he was out driving his expensive car or golfing..

Then again what does a check from Herve Caen mean today, when former checks bounced.....

Odds of Herve Caen getting payed today is 1:1

.

It probably means that the financial company that Herve was depending upon to raise some capital for Interplay didn't come through with the "promised" cash.

I do wonder how many big companies that were interested in purchasing Interplay during this time period were turned down by Herve because he believed that he was going to get cash from the finance group?

How sad for the remaining employees to be screwed by Herve's empty promises again.

Odds of Herve being convicted of crimes and sent to prison: Unknown, but presumed high.

Odds that Herve is making a sequel to "Fifi, the French Whore in Prauge": Unknown, but presumed high.

A little bit from gamespot, nothing new:

RUMOR #4: Interplay has gone out of business.

Source: The official Interplay Web site, which has been down for a week.

The official story: E-mails to Interplay's sole internal publicity rep were not returned.

What we heard: In mid-April, Interplay announced a series of bold business initiatives, including the resurrection of Fallout 3. It also revealed it was facing eviction from its Irvine, CA, headquarters due to nonpayment of rent. Shortly thereafter, the site for Black Isle, Interplay's all-but-shut-down internal developer, was replaced by a single page saying it was "undergoing maintenance." Then it went offline altogether. Now it seems the same fate has befallen Interplay's main site, www.interplay.com -although without the advance warning. The Web site simply stopped working sometime last weekend, and remains down as of press time. The resulting confusion has fueled speculation in many forums that, if it can't even keep its Web presence afloat, the once-mighty publisher of Baldur's Gate and Fallout has indeed finally become insolvent. However, a call to Interplay's office dispelled that notion. Though the company hasn't had a live operator in months, Interplay's voice mail system does still indeed work, meaning that, for now, the company is still around.

Bogus or not bogus?: The phones work, don't they! Bogus.

Priceless

We were expecting that piece kumquat, since a Gamespot staff member spent at least three hours yesterday snooping around here on NMA.

That's pretty damned stupid since that just means the phone bill has been paid this month.

Hey, but if they're still there to pay the phone bill, they're still there, n'est pas?

(am I the only one surprised by the fact that they managed to pay their phone bill?)

I think at this point, that if there is ANYONE still hanging around at Interplay thinking they'll get paid, then they're stupid. Really, really, really (multipled by the highest number you can possibly think of) stupid.

Seriously. Really stupid. I mean that.

Interplay ain't gonna pay you. Not yesterday. Not today. Not tomorrow. They can't pay themselves. What makes you think they'll pay you?

Stupid.

employees stupidity

to those looking in it must seem that way, however there are forces both internal and external that keep them going back, not all have to do with the back pay owed.

Also, after watching two employees now have to pay back unemployment to the tune of several thousand dollars because they did get a paycheck.... one is more likely to keep going back for more while looking for better than to get unemployment, have IP pay them, then have to be right back where they started.

Besides, if they stay, they can loot the assets, i.e.equipment, furniture etc (not that it will help that much, but it will feel good)

While we're in the business of photoshopping, I'd like to give some people nightmares. It's no biggie, just something I whipped up in three minutes in a lonely IRC session.

Phones get cut off within the month. They need those phones to conduct business, so it's not like rent where there is an eviction process that takes a while. I'm not surprised they pay the phone and power bill at all, they need those to appear to operate and there's very little grace period.
