Stumbled across a painfully simple infinite XP bug

Guys don't worry it's perfectly alright for Fallout 3 to have an infinite XP bug because it happens all the time in these games!

Just like it's perfectly alright for all games to lock-up and freeze because it happens all the time!
God damn it, this. This. A thousand times, this. Who gives an aerofornication whether or not other games have bugs? How does that justify this game having bugs? Rhetorical questions, of course, because the answer is obvious - it doesn't.

First, I'm pretty sure you quoted sarcasm.

The problem at the heart of this kind of discussion is probability and experience. The fact is, some of you are experiencing more bugs than others or are perhaps more inclined to be ever-vigilantly looking out for them. On the other side of the argument, some of you (and I would put myself in this side) have experienced few or no bugs and therefore fail to empathize with the people who are.

The truth is simple. All games have bugs. Bigger games, with exploration in mind, are going to have more bugs, simply because there probably isn't a company on the face of this earth willing to pay for the amount of playtesting it would take to squash even half of these bugs. Is this somehow negligent or morally reprehensible? Probably a little, but guess what, it's a gray area, and whichever side you're on you're very unlikely to convince the other side of your absolute correctness simply because you've both had different experiences with the same product.

Are there bugs? Yes. Should they be fixed, hell yes. Is Beth somehow terribly malicious and responsible? The first part, no, second part, definitely.

I was actually basing my comment on the fact that it's sarcasm. The underlying argument was that regardless of whether or not all games have bugs, it doesn't make them okay, and isn't a reason to just ignore them.

Chastising Bethesda for it is as fine as lambasting any other developer for their screw-ups. Bethesda does have a history of bug-ridden games and lacking support, as well, so they rightfully get criticized more harshly than some.
