Summer’s end 07

1. Worked my first real job for 4 months. Made some money and some friends there.
2. Helped out in various reno projects around the house (the garage still needs to be painted...)
3. Moved into new room, bought some furniture. IKEA: fits.
4. Failed my first driving test; passed the second.
5. Mandatory online professional development courses for Uni - kill me, please.
6. Met several long time members of the Unwashed Village (and former NMA/Vault13'ers) at a Toronto meet.
7. Changed my cell phone plan. Also much of my religious views.
8. Got back to NMA and the online Fallout community, after several years of absence.

Yeah, I'm boring like that.

My summer is like all my past summers for the past four years. However there were three different things.

1.Worked half the summer only 4 days a week instead of 5 so I had more time for fun, but feel bad about earning less money. Explanation below.

2.I switched my availability at the store I work to only weekends. With my five weekdays free I went to work with a friend of my family who needed temporary summer labor helping him with woodcarvings. Sadly he needed me less than expected and I only ended up working two days a week with him for a total of 4 days of work. Also he ran out of work, but was too kind to tell me I wouldn't be working anymore for him and for two weeks I didn't work at all with him while he kept dodging questions I would ask about when he needed me that week. I'm quite annoyed at the work I missed out on, but at least I've learned quite a bit about wood working. Oh here's the guys photo from a newbit about him in the local paper; http://pictopia.com/perl/ptp?provider_id=430&ptp_photo_id=1297752

3.I got a new gaming PC for $1,000. Now I'm finally able to play Doom 3 and a bunch of other games I've saved that wouldn't work on my old one.

4.Due to a combination of loving the game over all other RTS for many reasons and also feeling an empty void of challenge from not playing MTG I took up Warcraft 3 on Battlenet solo. I've done very well for myself. Though my Win/loss percentage hovers roughly around 50% I tend to remain above it more than below and also I'm set up mostly to play against other really good players that don't give easy wins.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

The fact that you weren't reminded of your 'Relationship Hilarity' thread for all summer reminds me of your 'Relationship Hilarity' thread.

all I did this summer is hang out with my friends. now that I read your posts, i'm like "i need to do more stuff in life", like you guys

You've got that right; you should look up to us. We lead quite interesting lives, us guys who constantly lurk and post here at NMA. We have girlfriends, host and attend to grand parties, and occasionally have to reject invitations to the Playboy Mansion due to the magnitude of the awesomeness of that which is our daily schedule. We get jobs, help the poor, buy stuff at IKEA - lose and gain weight like you wouldn't believe! (I mean, how could you, you who lead such an uninteresting life that you can't even get a thread running for 22 pages based soley on the <strike>patheticness</strike> interesting awesome that is you?) We right here are the rolemodels of the new people; of the New World. Join us, and you may also some day go to IKEA and get a new cupboard.
