Winning 3 super bowls in the last 4 years is as close to a dynasty as anyone is going to get. And sure the press might have them as 3pt underdogs but the fact of the matter is, SINCE they have won 3 superbowls recently, No one would be REALLY suprised if they won it again this year.

I wouldn't really lump them in with the dynasties of the past. Sure they win a lot, but they never blow teams out by any means. And when they lose, they lose UGLY (KC, SD, Denver, Indy,).

Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts? That's some of the best teams out there, mang, it's no shame to lose ugly to them

True. In fact, I think the bigger surprise this year was the bad season they started with, not the fact that they made it into the playoff and are one of the superbowl likelies.

I do think they recovered, though, but so have the Steelers. It's an interesting match, as any playoff match should be (not like the Carolina - NY Giants match)

I don't understand why everyone hates the Pats so much.

Because everyone else likes them so much.

Just like those damned Colts.

Anyways, I agree that the Pats will take it. Although if it comes down to Elam vs Vinatieri, I would chose Vinatieri in a heartbeat. That guy is Mr. Clutch. It always comes through, no matter what. Elam is good but Vinatieri is one of the best.

No, Vinatieri WAS Mr Clutch. I don't know what happened to him this season, but he went from the 1st-ranked place kicker to number...guess what...number *24*. That's nothing to sneeze at. He's below such place kickers as Rackers (f'ing duh), but also below Vanderjagt (Colts), Reed (Steelers), Brown (Sea) AND Elam (Broncos, number 8)...Elam has scored 115 points vs. Vinatieri's 100.

Yeah, he was great in the past, but don't blind yourself on that. He's had a lousy season and has shown little sign of improvement.

I'm pretty sure Grossman is starting in Orton's place.

True, missed that.

Tayl said:
I can't seem to find a definitive link to show this but I remember hearing it on the news a few days ago. Grossman is much better than Orton. I think with at least the threat of Grossman going deep it will open the run game for Jones. That's a big factor. With Orton in you don't get that. I think the Bears will squeek by.

They *might*, with Grossman, but he's still no Delhomme and he's missed too many matches to have the steadiness needed in a playoff q'back.

But like I said; Delhomme hasn't been playing at the top of his game and might be outplayed by ANY opossing quarterback from Kitna upwards (heh).

It's all about defense, baby, in which case we've got Carolina's 4th-ranked rush defence 9th-ranked passing defence 3rd-ranked overall against Chicago's 11-th ranked rush defence 5th-ranked pass defence 2rd-ranked overall. Looks pretty good for the Bears, but playing on defence is bad, hence my prediction they'd get by barely. 3 points man, that's just a field goal. Bad victory. Bad.

Go Seattle go!

Even sans Alexander they're a number one team. Nobody left has what it takes to take them on, especially if Alexander returns (hope, hope)

Man, I may have been wrong, but I really enjoyed this weekend. No more Patriots, no more Colts, YES!

PS: there, got a new poll in by some twist, damned phpBB. Everyone can revote!

I kind of forgot to save the last-round votes. Sorry. Seahawks had 3, Broncos had 1, 's all I remember. Methinks the Pats and Colts also had 1 each.

Last poll had this:
Seattle Seahawks
60% [ 3 ]
Denver Broncos
0% [ 0 ]
Pittsburgh Steelers
20% [ 1 ]
Carolina Panthers
20% [ 1 ]

Damn straight...

Seahawks for the win. Steelers have been great lately, but Ben's not ready for this, not by a longshot.

Great game by both those teams, though, they really slaughtered their opponents, especially Seattle.

Steelers are drawing a lot of fan attention, "home game" and everything, get one for the Thumb, get one for the Bus. Whatever.

Seattle is the better team. Their defense can get in Big Ben's face like nobody's bussiness, leaving a weak running game. Too many weapons on the Seahawks side. Too many.

Apparently everyone in my state, Oregon, is supposed to get revved up for the Seahawks since it's "our team" too.

Meh. Paul fuckin' Allen. Game should be interesting, though.

I'm not surprised. The miasma of failure has surrounded all of Paul Allen's franchises for some time now. My beloved Trailblazers being the most pertinent example.

Well, it was a good game, though i am a bit dissapointed that the Seahawks lost.

This marks the first time I've watched a game of your wacky American "football", and I have to say it was pretty damn entertaining. Although I was drinking a fair amount and making gay jokes every time that one guy would grab the other guys arse. I also made a couple of jokes about "downs", but then I felt really guilty and apologised.

I wonder how much the steelers paid the refs to throw the game. This was the worst officiated game ever. every time we made a big play the refs fucked us.

I wouldn't call it a good game. The defenses didn't shine, what kept the scores down were flaws in the offense. Bad-catching recievers for the Seahawks and the mostly overpressured Roethlisberger for the Steelers, though he had some great moments.

Randel El's pass was good. Parker's run was good. The Bus was pathetic. Polamula (or whatever) and Tatupu did not live up to expectations.

Definite "meh" game.

And brandon is right. Jackson's TD being whistled back because of pass interference must've been one of the worst calls in Superbowl history. Good thing they took back the ruling of Hasselbeck being tackled as a fumble later in the game, or they would definitely have some curious eyes on them, wondering how much they were paid.

Yeah, very sloppy all around. Roethlisberger's QB rating was 22.3 that's abyssmal! The only story that the press could hype up was the whole Bettis angle, and he barely contributed - would've like to see him contribute more to the victory.

All felt kind of hallow, the championship was really decided when Pittsburg won in Indy.

The Superbowl is often an uninspired game.
But I'm pleased. Pittsburg is more my kind of town than Seattle.

I heard on the radio down here in Aus, that the brewery association in the States were worried that they wouldn't be able to sell, or meet there financial requirements, as these two teams were fairly average teamss that don't have a huge fan base.

It was also stated that the Superbowl accounted for around 5% of annual sales for breweries in the States... I was surprised, as not even the Rugby League finals attract so much booziness :D
