Synth Relations

The missing content with Danse says the Institute is the threat rather than Synths.

Also, Maxson has never actually seen a Synth before.

He is literally attacking the Institute because he senses its technological level is so high and they picked up its nuclear reactor. They only discovered Synths later.

So yes, the BoS are just looking for a fight.
They leave the capital wasteland for a fight? No main faction in fallout 4 is given a real motivation for anything they do tbh. There's no point in discussing this shit. The writing and lore is just too shit in fo4 to warrant a discussion. You wanna talk game design the I'm here man.

They leave the capital wasteland for a fight?

....why wouldn't they?

The whole thing about Arthur Maxson is he's trying to take over the East Coast. Oh sorry, bring ORDER to the East Coast. Honestly, if he wasn't a genocidal against thinking machines, he'd be a valid argument. I mean, SOMEONE is laying down the law at least.

Yes but why, after 200 years, doesn't the east coast have not have some kind of order? Ashur's comments in the Pitt implied the the commonwealth was this technologically advanced place and not a place with a technologically advanced boogeyman. So beth retconned the commonwealth to be yet another shithole. Let's see what they do with ronto...

Also theres no way they finished bringing order to the capital wasteland in a mere 10 years. Who'd they leave in charge when they left? I imagine that place just descended right back into chaos so they're pretty futile in there goal especially as they are in fo4.

God his VA pisses me off. Reminds me of my father..... I hated my father.

Daddy issues aside, he really doesn't know the first thing about a synth, does he? Mainly that they aren't even robots. They are synthetic humans. Granted, the first two gens are more robotish, but last I checked they don't really have that much in the way of free will, minus the few who got injected with personality. And even then, if he knew the first thing about the Institute he'd know that they hate their freewill just as much as he does. So honestly, more than anything I question why the BoS hate the Institute?

The BoS hate the fact that the robits have freewill, and so does the Institute. Only difference being that the BoS want to commit genocide, while the Institute want to fix the problem. It'd make sense if the BoS wanted to completely overtake the Institute for themselves. But no, he wants them all dead to the point of pretty much setting off a nuke. The place wasn't big, you could've just killed them all personally you know!

I think Elder Maxson is an interesting character if you take the context that he's a lot more bark than bite. He's barely into adulthood buthas very deliberately styled himself to look like a grizzled veteran. I think it's very understandable he's trying to portray himself as having all the answers and being the ultimate hardass despite his extreme lack of information. I also think he's very much trying to prove himself by making his mark with the attack on the Commonwealth his attempt to make his legend beyond killing a bear when he was three. Err, sorry, a Deathclaw when he was fourteen.

I think the game would have been improved with more references to the Lone Wanderer and maybe even doing something about the fact that Maxson is sort of like Ulfric from Skyrim. He wants to be the Big HeroTM and compares himself to the Lone Wanderer but he's really not able to back up that sort of claim.

It's mostly propaganda.

Doctor Zimmer stated the Institute was a paradise of technology and wonder but the Commonwealth was a shithole.

Actually, I was confused as fuck by the references to Super Mutants in the Capital Wasteland. The Lone Wanderer killed everything in that place so that it should be safe for the next century.

Allow me to give you a glint into what this game looks like through my eyes. You see this child turned adult trying to be a badass as hard as he can. I see Bethesda doing their best to make a badass character and failing horribly.

I see them thinkin' of the coolest looking dude, with the coolest voice who makes speeches that inspire everyone to go kill everything. Yet they forget, they have some of the worst writing in the triple A industry. It may not hit the rock bottom of writing, but it's certainly found the uncanny valley where it seems like it should be good, but it just ain't. You just seem to see the game and the game alone. I see the game and the developers working behind it.

And even if what I just said is untrue, everything you've said feels like a whole lotta conjecture. Nothing but assumption after assumption and half truths. I find, if you have to assume nearly every bit about a character, then it's a bad character. And bethesda seems to be the masters of needing to assume a lot with characters.

EH, to each their own.

I work in academia so we're all about reading into things. Ulfric, however, was a well-written character as were many in Skyrim. Wolfenstein was very well written despite its appalling premise.

So I have some faith in Bethesda.

Appalling how? It's a game about killing Nazis in a variety of ways that is very fun and actually has some depth when it comes to its setting.

I'm always iffy about using real life monsters as shooting targets.

Even Nazis.

Albeit, I think they handled it as best they could as they didn't downplay what horrible monstrous atrocities the Nazis did or why.

I also liked how they made it clear Nazi superscience is an oxymoron.

Then you're too sensitive about it in my opinion.

A lot of fiction often takes inspiration and reference from real life. If not, there would not be a lot of works of fiction.

Eh, I still bought and enjoyed the game. I guess I just prefer my Nazis to have another layer of unreality between me and them.

They're pretty clear about how cartoonishly evil the main Nazis in Wolfenstien: TNO are though, the main antagonist is literally a mad scientist and the secondary antagonist literally runs a concentration camp.
They should also be gay, drag queens and black.
