Are there any good games like Fallout tactics out there, except Silent storm? I started out with JA, but the graphics were a tad boring.

I always tought of the commandos games more as puzzles than tactical combat games... Remind me of "the incredible machine", you have limited number of resources on each stage (bullets, bombs, etc) and have to use those to accomplish some goal, wich can usually be achieved only through a few different paths (unless you're exploiting the system). Never played the third too, but i heard it wasn't very good (seems like they ignored their fanbase's opinions when making the game[PCE said:el_Prez]commandos 1 and 2 are both great games and i bet you can find them in the bargain bin. Haven't played 3 yet but i bet it will be cool.
I really liked the first 2 X-COMs but hated the third one, it seems that it's a love-it or hate-it game...Retlaw83 said:If you feel like going to the trouble of getting X-COM Apocalypse to work under Windows XP, its a terrific game.

That's nonsense. Have you even played Commandos? If you have, you should have noticed the game doesn't have much combat to begin with. Any "combat" usually means you'll be reloading the game. Commandos focuses almost solely on tactics and meticulous planning, and all killing usually lasts about one second and consists of the green berret sneaking up on a guard and putting a knife under his throat. Turn based gameplay would be completely redundant, since the game is very slow-paced and entirely stealth-oriented as it is. Drawing any parallels between Commandos and BG/IWD is an incredibly ignorant thing to do, since the former is a masterpiece of tactical gameplay, while the latter are little more than chaotic hackfests.Baboon said:The problem with these games, along with Commandos, is the realtime combat. It doesn't leave much time to think, does it? (at least BG and IWD allows you to pause the action). I'd like something more along the lines of Fallout tactics. It's a shame the game industry hasn't really explored that genre yet. Too intelligent, I suppose.
