Talking Heads

Seems like all your heads are simply too cartoon-y. Dunno. Maybe you wanted to make them looking this way?
I wanted to make him a bit funny looking maybe I went too overboard

Not to demotivate you, just to show up what I think is problematic in this head. :>
Comment like these aren't demotivating me more like the opposite I get to know what looks wrong and get a chance to correct them.

Edit:
I just found the armor I created in max I just had to create a head for this.

And back to Vic
Do you think the head would look better if I change his mouth and ears and make him to have a bit more oval face... or should I send him to the trash can and start to model a new head for him.

And eyes ;)

That's up to you ;)

Anyway, you should pimp your organics skills little a bit, since all your heads seems very cartoon-y. Another thing is a texturing/lighting. Skin seems very simple (give it some details via bump map, for example) and looks like you're missing specular (which is very important), you may also take a look at thingy called glossiness. You may try to use area lights/make the shadows soft for more realistic results. Also, seems like you have little a bit weird lights set-up. Look at shadow under the jaw - right side is extremely dark, while left is very bright. Make one of your lights "key" and the rest "fill", which are less intense than "key". I'm personally not using any type of indirect illumination for THs - two lights (where sometimes one of them is set to affect specular only) is enough to me.

Jotisz you can always build a head in FaceGen Modeller and save the object file and texture…load it into your preferred 3D software and then mess around with the geometry. Some might think its cheating, but I would argue that the FaceGen head could be used as a template, and from there you can alter it to produce the qualities that we see in Fallout…just saying. As is the heads in FaceGen are a touch too realistic, but the head below has just a basic light setup, with the right setup you could make it much more interesting.

It for sure is not bad and yes, the gas mask is very wip-y right now.

Oh noez! :o How very not-Fallout-y, almost like Sith Lord!
I don't know, looks pretty Fallouty to me. Didn't Tycho have a gas mask?

If you fix up the hose (make it corrugated), find a way to fix the mask onto the face and improve the mask itself, I reckon it could be a pretty damn neat TH.

Something like this perhaps? :wiggle:

Yes, yes, yes, I ripped off that top, round thingies (and their position) from PA - Fallout Gods should be happy now!

And how about doing Sith Lord "cap" :wiggle:

I don't like StarWars, I will not give feedback on silly Sith Lords. :P

/Edit: A normal black cap might fit. But it shouldn't hang too deep into the face.

Fear da Dark Side of da Force! I loved Star Wars when I was a little kiddie, but now... meh... I don't care about it...

But that Sith Lord is looking like a really bad person - I like him :wiggle:

As you can see I'm a great fan of earrings!

God damn you TH wizard! I can't take my eyes off of NMA for one day without you spamming awesome into the forums! I'm loving the way you model armors / miscellaneous items (even if it Star wars stuff  ) keep up the good work. Oh yeah, have you textured my replacement Max Stone yet?

Can you remove the nose/lip rings Conti…I can image that the Fallout fashion style would have been a more sudo sci-fi 1950’s parrallel universe look (The Forbidden Planet)…noserings are typical Y generation crap from the 21st century. As for the mask and new critter – looks great – for a man that doesn’t do talking heads.

But this is Max!

He wandering to much outside of the Vault and lost his uber latex pajama. What a bad luck I'd say. It's my first TH which is moving away from generic peasant into moar wasteland/post-apoc theme. And I simply can't imagine this kind of human character in Fallout shitty pants art style  Will you re-paint one frame critter like this, X'il? :wiggle:

I can't. This character isn't Fallout related.

Nicole got one in eyebrow (not to mention about punk hair style, or Mad Max like clothes), so we can assume that this kind of stuff is perfectly fine in Fallout universe ;)

But they're better than talking flora & fauna, yakuza, 1930's mafia, or Jackie Chan!

Maybe it's time to make your first uber sci-fi 1950’s western Fallout-y TH :wiggle:

What of Cassidy and Mr. Whip? those didn't look like generic peasants at all.

There you go:
Uber post apoc retro ninja sith lord.

You don't have to, look above.

Perfect head for mysterious stranger, i'd say.
Guess the talking heads you're making are evolving to what would be a post-nuke dress code.

Hood looks a bit tight tho. I liked more the hood you posted before on that concept art picture.

I was picturing him with long sleeves and a longer coat, kinda like that Tycho (?) you were making. Weather in wasteland can be hard.

Kinda like this:

If we could mod Fallout 1 as easily as 2 (I know its not easy but modding Fallout 1 is way harder I think) then this new TH would be the best Tycho.

Anyway I sent my heads to the trash and come up with a new one tough it still looks crap compared to Continuum's.
(hair and eyebrows missing and the ears are crap though they look different then the one you see but I transported the wrong pic here but since only the ear was changed I'm not going back to the other Pc)
