Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
It's been up for some time now but I thought maybe I'd wait for it to expand a bit before I newsposted it: Jedi_Learner (also responsible for The Age of Decadence Unofficial FAQ) is giving us a whole new piece: The Age of Decadence Unofficial Gallery. It's an enormous thread full of screenshots, renderings and concept arts, all from Age of Decadence, separated by year too. Here are some examples, but there are many of them (not safe for dial-up users):

its not something i would play, i mean im used to a bit more in the gfx department (FFVII is as far back as i'll go, not including classics)

Still i couldnt do better so i guess a pat on the back is in order.

This game is just totally unrealistic.

yes, pre-rendering did the trick for me. Plus it was/is a great game, taught me to read and write.

This is possibly the dumbest post I've ever read on NMA, and that's saying a lot.
 
Isn't it a fact that if you like, took the heat of the sun in Fahrenheit and like, exponentially multiplied it by a thousand then multiplied it by the amount of time it takes to traverse the length of planet earth on a push scooter in length of minutes and seconds that you'd get the same amount in a numerical value of how overrated and crappy Final Fantasy 7 is?

A: "$25 direct download, $50 for a box (proper full color box, full color manual with concept art , jewel case CD) plus shipping."

Taken from their FAQ. I applaud them in making this type of game but...come on.....not worth this amount of money.
 
I second that Eyenixon... 5 & 3/6 kicked it's keister in plot and story development, not to mention the fact that they were anatomically correct!

FF7 is when Squaresoft discovered 'the formula' wherein at least one main character has to be a Blond (Mentally or literally) Emo pipsqueak who is ridiculously garbed to the point where they become Bishounen bait...

There are no more kickass or cool main characters anymore, they're all emo Bishies!

In FF7 Cid was the coolest, and he got the least screen time, look at Locke from FF 3/6, he kicks ass (personality wise) and he's the main character, in fact all of them had something that made them cool/unique, EVEN the villains.

FF7 + Makes me cry, FF9 gave me hope, then dashed it when they came out with 10, 12 then picked me up again slightly, enough to make me buy the game, but after a while it fell back into 'the formula'.

I don't want a mainstream Final Fantasy (at least stop calling it Final, there ain't nothing final about it anymore!) I want them to toss out 'the formula' and go back to making games where the characters had personality, depth, and no emo in sight save for actual sad moments in the game (the dying sea serpent from FF5 for example.)

Ugh!

So the jist of that was that you dont like FFVII? great. well atleast you managed to sound like a dick doing it

Mord_Sith, agree about the emo thing, didnt like cloud much myself. Sephiroth was a great character though.
I actually hated FF9 but liked 8 and 10 and again hated 12! :)

It's looking pretty good so far, and if the dialogues and quests are well-written, I'd say it's easily worth the full $50. I'm not sure how shipping will be handled, though, so I may have to go for direct download.

By the way, is that an eye of Horus on the last screenshot? Will there be an egyptian-like faction in the game or something?
