ooc-Fang, are you mad that my character kind of took charge of the group? I'm sorry about that.
ic-Throngs of people began to crowd into the courtyard, and took seats in the hastily constructed bleachers. Santa Anna's men strode about, directing people to their seats, and arresting more than one. Will was still laying on the top of the nearby mansion, rifle aimed at the podium. He waited for Santa Anna to come out.
Someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around. Fang was back. He gave a thumbs up.
"I've got that stage rigged with enough C4 to blow the entire area to hell."
"Good job Fang."
Will looked back down his scope. Someone was coming up the podium. The crowd hushed. It was Santa Anna. He was dressed like a two-bit South American dictator, with a curled mustache. Of course, come to think of it, he WAS a two-bit South American dictator.
Will next looked at the person accompanying him. All of a sudden, he understood why the crowd had hushed. It was a battle scarred super mutant, dressed in black armor, and with the emblem of the Childern of the Cathedral on his armor. He must have been the leader of what was left of the mutant army. Fang suddenly pointed at something.
"Will, look!"
Will looked in the direction he was pointing. A column of super mutants were approaching from that direction. They filed into the courtyard, and stood with Santa Anna's color guard.
Santa Anna began to speak in a powerful voice.
"My friends, today is a great day for Mexico!"
There were muted cheers. Will saw that the people were being forced to cheer by Santa Anna's men.
"In our struggle against the imperialist Americans from the north, and the traitorous rebels who live among us, we have gained a powerful new ally. They were too, abused by the American scum. They hunger for revenge, as do we. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like you to meet Hal, leader of the mutant army."
He stepped aside, clapping and motioning for Hal to step forward and speak. Will faced a difficult position. He could only get one shot off before everything went to hell. But who was the bigger threat? Will looked over at the hiding place of Sargent Squigee and his men, an old, battered clock tower. Through his scope, he could see Sarge trying to mouth "Which one?"
Hal began to speak in a gruff mutant voice. Will suddenly remembered all the stories he had heard about the super mutants and the master. About how the master had tried to destroy all mankind. He had met a few good super mutants in his life, but this obviously wasn't one of them. Will trained his scope back on the podium. He took a deep breath and fired.
Hal's head dissolved into a fine red mist of blood. The courtyard erupted into chaos and gunfire.
