The Dark Knight Trailer

I said it from the beginning ;)
Considering how well they casted batman begins, I had faith in their vision.

Plus, the Joker is a character that is so unique with every iteration that it really is impossible to screw up.

I love how he says "like me!" I was immediately satisfied after hearing that line.

This is the only new film out based on a comic book that is worth viewing. I love it.

just got around to watching the trailer. Heath is about the only nice surprise inthere tbh.

just seems more of the same.

PS: Heath cant possibly top the old joker though.

You mean Jack Nicholson?
He didn't even look like the Joker, or play the Joker.... Jack Nicholson played himself in a Joker-like outfit. Don't get me wrong, it worked real well... but I would hardly call it the most faithful iteration of the Joker. His head is shaped all wrong, too, too round, vs the exagerated facial shape of the Joker. Also, his look was more suited towards Tim Burtons style, Jack Nicholson wouldn't fit in the world of the new Batman movies.

From what I've heard the first 6 minutes of the movie was captured an placed on the web for those that enjoy spoilers. A batman crazed friend of mine caught those few minutes himself. He as well as most were baffled at how Heath is playing the Joker so well.

can't possibly? strong words. i'd almost say he already HAS, just from the preview.

Yes, people do like overrating these new iterations of Batman, don't they?

For various reasons, noting that so far no Batman film has been more than a good action flick, the originals were better. This one doesn't look to change that.

Still, good action films.

I'm inclined to disagree, but I can still see where you're coming from so long as that statement comes with the unspoken proviso that the first series proper died with Batman Returns.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the old series, but the grit and the (relatively) more realistic take give Batman Begins a slight lead with me. It was the first Batman movie since the original in which the Bruce Wayne side of things wasn't intolerably wooden and underdeveloped, and the first and only Batflick that took more than a cursory glance at the effect Batman had on his environment and vice-versa. The whole thing was just... more human.

I dislike the argument that Nicholson didn't look like the Joker. So friggin what? I'd much rather an actor look nothing like the character but play him well than the other way around. Nicholson's Joker was a classic performance. The part about his head being shaped all wrong is just ridiculous, I don't know what to say to that. Would you rather, they find a weird looking guy off the street with a resemblance? Besides, he had the evilest smile of any actor I can think of.

Ledger doesn't look like Joker either, he is just skinny. He is also too young and Australian. Apparently, that's not stopping him from playing a kick ass Joker.

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the IMAX scene. They filmed a scene that's not going to be in the actual movie, it's sort of like a prelude. I think they show it only in IMAX as a trailer before movies. Seen it, it's cool but you can't exactly see Ledger act.

no way heath can surpass nicholson's facial expressions...

and as an actor, i'd say heath still has a long way to go.

yeah, as most action flicks: too much gimmicks, too much flashy crap, too much 'lulz that's cool'.
fuck, they added asian swordfights for FUCKS SAKE.
not to mention the emo crap thrown in.

dont get me wrong, i like bale as an actor, but the new batman flicks arent worth much past the 'hehe, cool' effect that fades after having seen once.

Sure, but that's the staple of any action film, Batman included.
I think what sticks about the original two are the solid performances of everyone except Batman, and a well-bred atmosphere.

These are way more gimmicky, and have some shamefully bad performances (Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, Cillian Murphy and that Frith awful hack Morgan Freeman were awful in Batman Begins).

Spider-Man took the superhero film crown and ran with it anyway (and I'm sure some of you will hate me for saying it, but whatever, fuck you guys, they're superior films), Batman isn't exactly making an effort to recover the crown.

Christian Bale is good, though, and Heath Ledger is a good actor with a propensity to play in really shitty movies. So maybe this one will be better.

Needs less Morgan Freeman. Frith, that's such a shitty actor.

I like Morgan Freeman. And his rating jumped straight to awesome after "Lucky Number Slevin" for me.

Morgan Freeman was great. He always plays the same character but he never plays him badly. He is always a good supporting character.

I love the old Batmans (most of them) but I love Begins as well. I watched it a million times and I still think it's great. I don't think it was flashy or anything like that, definitely not compared to other movies based on comic books. I think it gets everything just right.

One thing I will admit though, is that when I watch it now, I dislike more things about it than I did before. I thought Cillian Murphy was great but now I find his performance cheesy. The same thing with Thomas Wayne. There is also something not quite right about Gotham. It doesn't feel like a real city, more like a set, which it mostly is. I always found the humor cheesy.

What I dislike about the trailer is the same damn brown tone and empty streets of BB. I wish they gave it a different tone, to make it fresh. Other than that it looks great and I'm still excited as hell though.

PS
BTW Cannot say anything about Spider-man because I cannot watch that piece of s***. It's like a 12 year old's superhero movie.

Went to insecure emo 15-year-old with latest one.

Spiderman was pretty bad, although it had some pretty good aspects to it. The spidey 3 iteration of Venom was absolutely TERRIBLE.

Why stop at Venom? Through and through, Spidey 3 was even worse than Fantastic Four 2, which is no small feat. I tried watching it as a comic book fan, I tried watching it as a movie enthusiast, I tried watching it with my higher brain functions as well-stifled as I could get them... Search as I might, I could not find an angle from which they succeeded with this film.

The first was pretty good, keeping in mind that Spider-Man was a character originally marketed to teenage readers. The second was an opus, as far as superhero films are concerned, largely thanks to Doc Ock. The third, though? Spatch-job script that substituted angst for character development, barely bothered to cover significant plot elements with anything more than the expository equivalent of aluminum siding, and spent it's entire overinflated run building up to an anticlimactic tag team supershowdown. It's like they foisted scriptwriting duty off on the guy that did Ultraviolet.
