I don't have a picture, but in the first Max Payne [spoiler:46371e3508] In the apartment levels there's a room you come across if you walk along the edges , that has a shrine and is covered in blood. And pictures of the developers if I remember correctly. My friend told me that the room with the pics was in MP2, it's been awhile since I've played either[/spoiler:46371e3508]
Advertisment for Claw, an awesome 2D platformer published by Monolith Productions. Stephan Weyte(who did the voicing for Caleb) also did some voicing in this game.
The Grand Theft Auto series has quite a few good ones. I would list videos, but there are just too many to see.
[spoiler:fbc5ad14a6]The ones I can think of include shooting the moon in Vice City, which caused it to grow and expand. There are also the creepy empty cars that spawn in the San Andreas wilderness, that just roll around with no driver behind the wheel. And you can't forget the room with the bloody bathtub and chainsaw. A great homage to scarface.[/spoiler:fbc5ad14a6]
Metal gear solid's hidden codec messages are always fun. Silly references and tongue-in-cheek 4th wall breaking wackiness. This one isn't too hidden but it's my favorite one
[spoiler:55d077fd95] A Wolfenstein room with collectable gold goblet, a Doom room which is the first area of E1M1 with a Doomguy bobblehead and a Quake room which is the level select area with a Shambler plushy.
Also a bar patron is reading the Doom comic. [/spoiler:55d077fd95]
These are pretty old skool style easter eggs of hidden doors in the walls and suchlike.

There is a similar reference in Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, in one quest the player needs to bring a person's cat back and has to lure the animal using its favorite toy; a Claw doll that speaks a line of that game when you press it.
When Caleb reaches this part he says: 'Heeeeerreee coooommmes Caleb!', Both the Fire Axe and the line are a reference to the movie 'The Shining'
Also, the owner of the place seems to be 'Stephen'. This is also a reference to the book 'The Shining' written by Stephen King. The movie was also based on the book.
[spoiler:9449d0aa87]Chuck's daughter is playing Mega Man on her hand held device(which looks like a psp btw). There was also a Mega Man suit in the original Dead Rising.[/spoiler:9449d0aa87]
I don't mind easter eggs, in fact I like them most of the time unless they're out of place. Sort of like the Nintendo cameos in MGS: TTS. They're simply there because it was on Gamecube.
Maybe more inspiration than easter eggs, but the interior of Picus' headquarters in Montreal where you'll meet Eliza Cassan Deus Ex: Human Revolution is entirely modeled after New York Times newsroom.
