The Fall of Bethesda

RavagersPre

First time out of the vault
It's nice to see that the illusion of Bethesda has finally been broken, what are your guys thoughts on this? I honestly thought it would never happen.

I think You are waaayyyy too optimistic. Sure shitout 76 hurt them a bit, but once TES6 drops people will buy it, because "Skyrim is best RPG ever!"/s

Just look how retards keep buying FIFA and Cod each bloody year. Still, seeing this dumpster fire is very entertaining, way more than 76 is.

Fact remains creation club, bugthesda launcher do exist and it would require a fuckup way bigger than this. Still with Doom eternal, Fallout 5 and Tes 6 being exclusive should be pretty huge deal. Just look at metro exodus

Yeah, while i believe this will put a dent in their reputation, it will probably go away with Elder Scrolls 6 because they will claim that they are going back to the "roots" with that game, and this Fallout 76 fiasco will be forgotten. The casual audience has the memory span of a goldfish.

There's also still a large sect of their fanbase, just rabidily defending their bullshit still to this day.

Thing is, gamers are retarded. and a lot of the time once they decide they like something they like it forever no matter how bad it gets. that's how resident evil 6 is the second best selling resident evil in the series. they don't know why they like something only that they like it and as a result they can't see decline no matter how apparent it may be. kinda reminds me of star wars fans. "its got the name that makes its good" is the mentality of most gamers unless the company actually starts fucking with them. not many are criticizing 76 for being a bad game but rather they are criticizing the actions bethesda has taken around it. so yeah, even as bad as 76 is people still aren't really that mad about the game itself.

Dunno what 'it' amounts to in the long run. I hope they learn from it, and get their shit together. With corporate overlords in charge of everything, that isn't going to happen. At best they'll course correct just enough to get back to making bank with bunk. The only other possibility is that they keep digging the hole deeper to the point of cave-in.

Yeah, this isn't enough to hurt them alone. They're gonna have to fail multiple times. They have too many ways to make it up to the fans. They'll be revered again by most people for going back to singleplayer as if that's all that made up their roots.

I'm happy that people won't blindly buy Bethesda games anymore.

But I remain hopeful for Bethesda, hopeful that Bethesda never wanted to release 4 and 76, hopeful that Starfield is a return to form.
If it turns out to be as bad as Fo4, I'll give up on them. Until then I'm not ready to give up on the developer that made Morrowind.

I feel like 76 is the tipping point for public opinion, Starfield is their last chance.

The last jedi is better than 7, or any of the prequels

Given how sucessfull their games have been up to Fallout 4, they are not gonna change to make something like Morrowind. Morrowind has some design choices that are no longer present in their games since Oblivion. Like how every npc is killable and not everything scales to you.

Stranger things have happened. So although the chance is slim, I wouldn't say its impossible.

Still zero percent chance considering most of the guys behind Morrowind are no longer in the team. And Todd Howard just.... he had all the chance and time in the world to prove he's still got what it takes, but at this point it's safe to say there's still zero percent chance of him going back to what made Morrowind good.

Its just a slippery slope. All 76 will do to drones is cause them to see 4 with a better light as opposed to the hot garbage it is. Even people who were slightly disappointed by 4 may welcome another installment like it simply because it indicates bethesda is on "the right track".

If Bethesda is better at marketing than they are at making games they can twist this failure into good PR and hype for their next game.

Bad need not be compared to worse. What good does that do? If you want proper perspective then bad must be compared to good.
