It Wandered In From the Wastes
I know I used this in my Mutants Rising application but i wanted to post it here also to discuss this...
As i also said in my application I must give thanks to the trusty windows calculator for allowing me to do the calculations within 20 minutes .
The key to a galactic wide empire....
The Milky Way galaxy is ~90,000 light years wide. If you have a galactic wide empire you can't wait 90,000 years for news about what's happening on the other side of the galaxy. So I've figured out that to be able to have a reasonable amount of time for news and etc. Humans would need to discover a way to fly 800,000 times the speed of light. Divide 90,000 by 800,000 and you'll get 0.1125. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second. So then muliply 186,000 by 90,000 and you'll get the ~ width of the galaxy in miles. Write down the answer to that. Then divide 90,000 by 800,000 again and multiply that by 0.1125, you'll get the EXACT answer you got for the width of the galaxy. 0.1125 represents how many years it would take to travel across the galaxy. Multiply 0.1125 by 12 and you'll get 1.35 which is how long it would take to travel across the galaxy at 800,000 times the speed of light. This is A BARE MINIMUM estimate for what you should get. 800,000 times the speed of light is the time needed for regular news, if there was a war you can't wait a week to a month and a half time to wait for news of your progress to reach the home planet(s) and then another week to a month for updated battle plans to be sent back. So I recommend 800,000 times the speed of light as a BARE MINIMUM speed for a galactic wide empire. But for an efficient system I recommend about 10,000,000 times the speed of light. Which is 1,860,000,000,000 miles per second. Which would take only 0.108 which is only about 7 or 8 days to travel the entire span of the Milky Way galaxy. But there is a catch to going this fast. There is a theoretical bend in time, if we were to travel that fast, theoretically, it would bend time so much that it would open a rift in time and your ship would go through it. You could Potentially come out at some point in the future or past. Or you might never come out since it might just keep bending and never bend back to your position which would theoretically leave you trapped in nothing for all of eternity. But, then theoretically you'd be something in nothing which would cause the creation of a parralel universe. Then if you did come out in the future that would prove that predestination exists and everything that happens in history and future is set in stone and could never change to something else. And if you ever came out in a time when you weren't meant to be you'd cause the destruction of time, which in essence would spell the end of our universe and ALL parralel universes simultaneously. There would literally be NOTHING. But then again that's theoretically impossible because there would have to be something like a black or white backdrop, and all the space between the sides would be something. So then theoretically we could just join the universes together possibly causing immense damage to everything from the energy created by not only 2 universes joining together. But an infinite number of universes joining together. Which would be another paradoxical event in itself because it would increase the size of "the universe" infinitely. This is paradoxical because the universe we know is already theoretically infinely large. So it's impossible to say for sure what would happen in these types of events. All we can do is speculate.
