The New Obsidian: Josh Sawyer appointed to studio Design Director role

I dunno, I kind of agree with him on most points about the gameplay; I haven't played it on the hardest difficulties, but on normal the AI is pretty unintelligent, most classes are lackluster and a lot of stats only have minor impacts on the game.

Which rpg has intelligent AI? To my experience, probably all the top ones are hovering roughly at the same point~. At least you can't kite the ones in POE for easy kills and if you attack one, the others neaby are usually alerted too. While mobs like the ghosts and Gŵla with their teleport and stun abilities can change the dynamic of a fight at all times, so you usually have to make adjustments. The lack of different skills and abilities are of course a mark on this game as opposed to DnD games with a mature system, but it's not dramatic and i had vastly different combat approaches with my main being a thief and a party concentrated on meele and then a cypher with a party concentrated on rifles.

I have only tried normal with trial of iron and while it didn't seem very hard, i did not finish that playthrough (i made a mistake entering lightower without adequate cold resistance). But on hard i had plenty of very hard fights throughout the game, as not are enemies tougher, there are also more of them.

Either way, I loved the game for its narrative and the characters I've come up with as a result. I really like the background-building aspect, it helps you immerse yourself in the world.

I really enjoyed the story and the dialogue, can't remember one time (off the top of my head) that it felt cheesy or out of place. The culmination was pretty unexpected in a good way.

I think one of my favourite moments was during my first playthrough when I helped Hiravias to find his own identity by talking to him about Wael. Obsidian likes to have a theme in their games, and in this one it was ignorance, living without ever knowing the answers to your questions; as frustrating as that may be for someone like me, it went very well with the conclusion to the druid's quest, and it made me feel very at peace with my own frustration over the lack of answers. I liked how peacefully the quest concluded and how happy-go-lucky Hiravias turned out to be.

Which is also why my second playthrough was as Priest of Wael.

I'm really enjoying RPGCodex, seems to me that most of them are just trolling or being overly sarcastic for fun all the time. The good thing is that you are the only person responsible for your own opinions there, none of board staff members would stomp on your balls for politically incorrect post or whatnot.

I was just being a tad facetious, I've actually enjoyed lurking a over there a bit since their FO4 review.

Seems like Sawyer is going to keep doing what Obsidian does, and I'm good with that.

Cool, they've got a "Kane's Declaration of Principles" going on.
