The ruins

Lived Through the Heat Death
Here`s a small post by "someone" on the BIS feedback forum:

I wish. I did have some screenies of the opening level of the demo, but unfortunately they're all gone now. Perhaps one of the others can help out.
The main menu is nothing compared to the actual game. Many jaws hit the floor the first time we saw a complete level. The PC strode into a burnt-out cityscape, the ruins of tall buildings casting deep shadows on the ground, the wind kicking up dust as the PC walked along. There was even Fallouty funeral music Sawyer found somewhere.
Now all I have to say is "Arrrrgh!"
:x

I`ve added this in the same thread:

Fighting fierce dogs in the outskirts of Denver, passing through the ruins with your clunky robot companions, starting not in one location but choosing several ones, in a world again on the verge of conflict, with general decay and 50s style b52 hairs on the female NPCs, that would be just...great.
The people that made this things should be proud.

We're talking *beep*, right? Feel free to edit this if it means protecting his identity.

Christ, I can damn near visualize the environment, with the wind reverberating through burnt out buildings, dirt crunching under your brahmin skin boots.

Edit by Briosafreak: I sincerily don`t know who it is, but just to be on the safe side...

good lord....i got so hopeful when i read that. then i realized, wait .....BIS is gone, fallout 3: canned. Oh cruel world....

i really hope someone could get those screenies....

maybe highjack whatever's completed of the game so far and put it online for us.........

Briosafreak:

Ha! Liar!

okay, okay, I'll play along, but he was awarded that nickname on the Iply forums awhile ago...

Too bad somebody couldn't 'borrow' the code for Fallout 3 like Half-Life 2...hint hint. Not that I'm suggesting anything; which I'm not, but if I was, it would make a great Christmas present to everyone.

Give it time. If you had something to show, would you go plastering it all over the fan pages right after you were fired? As much as you might want to, good ol' Iply is sure to be watching.

One step ahead of you. (Check the sig below)

I'm willing to bet the reason the firings happened without warning is because IPLY was afraid of the BIS taking things and giving them to fans.

I'm normally against piracy and hacking, but in this case, and because of the way the screwed the devs... I wish someone would burn Interplay somehow (preferably NOT in a physical moltov cocktail way though)

I'm not a big fan of piracy either, but in this case it's probably the only way the work BIS did will see the light of day. It's mainly a joke, but I wouldn't hesitate to download it if someone did do it.

kumquatq3, I think you might have something there. I don't know if it was a big factor in the lay-offs but I wouldn't doubt that the execs had that in mind.

If someone did do it I would download it to, so it's all good.

Partly because it's a shame all that work is now lost, partly because it's FO3 and a real big chunk of reason to stick it to Interplay  And the idiots at Titus (whom I'm under the impression own interplay now)

They own it for quite some time Darque, unfortunately.
The only decent and business sane thing to do now would be them to sell or license the PC rights to Fallout3, license or sell SPECIAL and the Jefferson engine.

What do you think the chances of them selling the PC rights to Fallout are? Part of me thinks its good, but then another part says it will never happen...

Well looking at it logically (something that doesn't apply to Titus/Interplay it seems) if they aren't going to make PC games anymore, and if they need cash. Selling or licencing it would be the wisest thing.

But they haven't proven to be the wisest of people though. :?

I'm not saying that it factored in the choice to fire them, but I think it factored into how they were fired.
