Some types of uranium have longer Half-lifes (time it takes for half the partciles in one element to transmutate into half the particles of another element or differnet type of the same element) than others for instance (Skynet reaches for Biology book) Lets see here, ahh here it is, Uranium-238 has a half-life of 4,500,000,000 years. Thats a long time. Wheras soem other elements have a half-life of a couple seconds. I not know what they use in nuclear weapons, I also do not know how exactly Half-life contributes too the Fallout. But, judging from Xotor's answer before he might know, do you Xotor?
