Thoughts on the New Vegas DLC?

I actually enjoy them more than the vanilla game, its probably because the devs had more freedom for the expansions which led to more unconventional gameplay scenarios and unique storylines (for a Fallout game)

They're the best DLCs I've ever played, and definitely a contender for best of all time.

The vanilla game has more freedom to roam, but feels less cohesive. It does more to develop its conflicts, but leaves them feeling less tangible. I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other. It's nice to have both.

Dead Money is a great, tense, horroresque story.

Honest Hearts was my least favorite, but it's still pretty good. Adds great, lore appropriate guns to the game.

Old World Blues is my favorite. Fallout meets the Twilight Zone.

I usually run Lonesome Road first. With a scoped hunting rifle, I can take it on at lower levels. Great background lore for the Courier and the Mojave.

Gun Runners Arsenal adds new weapons and improvements to some weapons, I just wish they had added the improvements to the vanilla weapons instead of giving us new duplicates of original weapons. I still wouldn't play the game without it. Got to have the ammo expansion.

Courier's Stash is great. Even if I don't use every piece of equipment, it's still a nice selection to choose from for the early game. My only beef was having the start of the game slowed down by having all that junk dumped in my inventory upon waking up. I actually made a mod that places that stuff in the Goodsprings area instead of shoving it at you.

Fuck me I read the title as the new new Vegas dlc and thought Beth decided to take a cue from bordlerands 2 and make dlc for a nearly ten year old game.

Wouldn't that be beautiful! Sadly, no. The closest we can get is a New Vegas mod that Bethesda ripped off and put into a Fallout 4 DLC.

Dead Money: Favorite one of the bunch. Love the tone and the atmosphere.
Honest Hearts: Liked it well enough but it felt missing in some parts. Thinking of making a mod for my More Lived In Wasteland Series that adds more quest and NPC's in Zion. Still need to get done with the other two mods I have in the series though.
Old World Blues: Unpopular opinion, I HATED this DLC. The tone felt too goofy and the DLC itself felt like a over glorified house mod.
Lonesome Road: It was okay. Don't really like that it added quite a bit of back story to your character but it was nothing that really offended me.
Gun Runner's Arsenal: I loved that it added more guns and weapons from the previous Fallout games into New Vegas.
Courier Stash: Like that it added some goodies for the start of the game but I didn't like that it added all the pre-order packs into my inventory. Made me feel a little too well stocked at the beginning of the game. Thankfully this mod fixes that and lets you choose which pre-order pack you want: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/44171

Definitely agreed on the inventory dump. That mod is another useful option. Personally, I like being able to cherry pick from all the packs, except for the Tribal Pack. I have no use for that stuff.
