Todd Howard speaks on OXM podcast

Cool. If the game is "finished", it's really about time to COMMUNICATE about it. Show screenshots, videos, exemples of quests and choices other than the "blowing Megaton" stuff. You KNOW that we, rabid fans, are not that close-minded. Well, maybe we are but we are sticking to a logic at least. What's the logic behind your lack of interaction with the fanbase ?

Fo1 has 19 different endings, with 360 possible permutations. Fo2 has 47 endings with 1,105,920 permutations. If 200 is the number of permutations for Fo3, they are seriously behind. That would correspond to maybe 10-20 endings. But I'm assuming they'd have to be talking about permutations since you should know when designing a game whether you'll have ~12 or ~200 endings. You don't accidentally hop from 12 to 200 endings late in the development process and send in an order for 188 additional voiceovers from Ron Perlman (because he will KILL YOU). With permutations it would be thinkable, at least.

What the hell are my posts invisible or something?
Yes, they're talking about permutations. They've said before that that's how they define 'endings'.

Again: going from 12 to 200 different endings in that way is just 4 binary choices that have some kind of effect.

You have a point, but I still think they're talking about permutations.

Also! If terra-arcanum does not lie to me, Arcanum has 43 endings, but it's hard to say how many permutations there are since I can't find any place listing which ones are mutually exclusive.

it would be nice to see some endings affecting other endings in the way: ending2 for location x + ending1 for character y = some extra content.

its so wishful thinking but maybe it was the way they approached it.

When dealing with permutations that number can increase exponentially, so it won't be surprising if they can catch up to FO1.

Todd notes "Usually I'm concerned with making sure they understand what the game is and what the game isn't. I always worry that somebody reads about it and they get excited, whether they're old Fallout fans or a newer fans of ours. My concern is usually I want them to know as much as they can so that when they go to buy the game they know what they're getting. (...) The people who bought Oblivion and then said "I didn't like it, this isn't what I thought I was getting", that's usually what concerns me more."

Good line.

Too bad it's ripped off almost verbatim from what NMA's stated goals are.

Where are those goals stated?, I wanna get my own picture of this.

Also i would say NMA (if they really talk about NMA only) is more likely left-wing and especially liberal, than right-winged. If political at all.

I guess, after all, it was just an attempt to insult this kind of Fallout fans in special way :|

In our heads and whenever someone asks, we just go, "NMA's goals are to bring as much information dissemination as possible for the Fallout titles", often with the added explanation of comparing the way we're trying to cover Fallout 3 to the way Oblivion was misrepresented by the media.

Oh yes, and we <3 mods.

Left-wing extremists are even worse than right wing extremists :drummer:

Indeed. When I read the thing I kind of missed the point. If they really wanted to insult us they should have gone for left-wing extremism, not right-wing...

Kin of stupid the old feller is isn't he?

The OXM guys make an "impersonation" of No Mutants Allowed fans.

Epic fail.

I noticed that. Professional video game journalists... eh. They give us all a bad name (video game fans).
