you guys sure know how to pick 'em, let me tell you.
The Dandy Warhols, Tenacious D, Steve Vai (Who? Steve Vai! Uhm... who?), no doubt all brilliant musicians that...

My list would look something like this:

The Beatles, Radiohead, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Captain Beefheart, Aphex Twin, The Beach Boys, Beck, REM and Eels.

Those are like musicians that really matter, you know, not one-hit-wonders, but people who were/are inventive, progressive and enormously talented. Although stuff like that doesn't seem to matter much anymore in the world of today...

EDIT: Oh, and how could I forget Tricky! Tricky is a fine musician as well. Smokes too much weed, though, but hey: don't we all? :whatever:

I do agree that bands as Tenacious D have one hit wonders, ie Tribute (the greatest song in the world for 3 hours before it got old)
However those other bands and musicians (eg. Steve Vai) have awesome talents.

Oh, and Steve Vai is a solo electric guitarist who did lead guitar on Halo 2, and man does he do some awesome work. I can't believe you never heard of Vai!! You are seriously missing out there man...

Cheers,
The Duckman

I mostly answered to what I feel is my top-10 now. Of course my music taste evolves in time, and it should. If you would have asked me the same question 2 years ago I would have probably answered something like this.

1. Doors
2. Lenny Kravitz
3. U2
4. Kent
5. The Cranberries
6. AC/DC
7. YUP
8. Zen Caf?
9. The Ramones
10. Eppu Normaali

And who are you tell them they are one-hit wonders, if YOU like only one song (or the major public).

Never heard of Steve Vai! Damn you really shouldn?t give critic to others...when you know nothing of music.

Heard of Neil Young, Pet Shop Boys, Bee Gees?

I was planning on posting my list to boost my postcount - but then I checked it and figured I don't really need it anymore.

I, as have most, already posted this a dozen times or so before on these boards anyway.

Banned for being an obnoxious little fart.

And maybe I never heard of Steven Vagina because I don't play crappy games like Halo 2. Huh, ever thought about that, frisco?

Anyway: locked and vatted.

Steve Vai really is one of the best solo gituarists out there. I can't honestly believe that someone would consider his doing the lead guitar on Halo 2 a positive aspect of his career, though.

I seem to recall multiple of these threads, but hey, here goes anyway:

Devin Townsend
Strapping Young Lad
Dream Theater (in the same vein: Circus Maximus, if they start publishing more of that quality stuff)
Death
Iced Earth
Megadeth
Metallica
Slayer
Testament
Nevermore
Opeth
Morbid Angel
Iron Maiden
Demons&Wizards
Blind Guardian
...
More than 10, you say? Yeah, deal with it.

Steve Vai is one of the best, he was here in Croatia a couple days ago. Anyway

In no particular order, ten of my favouritest bands evar:
Megadeth
Skid Row
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Manowar
Rage
Testament
Iced Earth
Guns n' Roses

Normally there would be Soilwork and In Flames on there, but considering their incredibly poor recent work, I've left them off as a form of protest.

Actually fuck it:
Soilwork
In Flames

And I left these off:
Metalium
Nevermore
Darkane
Arch Enemy

Once again, in no particular order...
