Is this True Sequel a spiritual successor or a blatant Fallout game?

Sorrow said:I know, but from what you write it sounds like a Fallout sequel, not a spiritual successor.
Sorrow said:I don't know why, but I find the "True Fallout Sequel" phrase incredibly annoying.
But they can't really advertise it as a "true Fallout Sequel" blatantly once they move along. Seriously, ZeniMax legal corps loves their cease and desists.
That's exactly why the whole talking about "true Fallout Sequel" annoys me.Brother None said:But they can't really advertise it as a "true Fallout Sequel" blatantly once they move along. Seriously, ZeniMax legal corps loves their cease and desists.
Thats the reason of our wiki page named "gamename", in future we will be able to throw away the term "True Fallout Sequel" to describe the whole thing as it will describe itself as such. Spiritual successor is also a description we used, the other one was just the first one in mind so do not interpret much in it =)Sorrow said:That's exactly why the whole talking about "true Fallout Sequel" annoys me.Brother None said:But they can't really advertise it as a "true Fallout Sequel" blatantly once they move along. Well, Fallout3 has everything you want: The original name, the license, some of the setting remains ie vaults, some gamemechanics stay. Have fun with it! heheSorrow said:Also the statement that it's a "true Fallout sequel", can't be true Fallout sequel if it doesn't have the Fallout setting and mechanics.
What exactly of the whole thing is plagiatism? Actually we only have some decent technology built up and I cannot say that we used anything but some sprites for testing which were also used it Fallout.Sorrow said:Not to mention, that it sounds like a blatant plagiatism.
I prefer when people come up with their own things.
Frankly, naming (or even codenaming the project) your game as a "True Fallout Sequel", while you don't own the Fallout intellectual property is incredibly arrogant and takes away your credibility.Bunkermensch said:Thats the reason of our wiki page named "gamename", in future we will be able to throw away the term "True Fallout Sequel" to describe the whole thing as it will describe itself as such. Fallout series are dead for me.Bunkermensch said:Well, Fallout3 has everything you want: The original name, the license, some of the setting remains ie vaults, some gamemechanics stay. Have fun with it! hehe![]()
The "True Fallout Sequel" name for example and things like this.Bunkermensch said:What exactly of the whole thing is plagiatism? Actually we only have some decent technology built up and I cannot say that we used anything but some sprites for testing which were also used it Fallout.
It can be said, that you are making it look like a cheap plagiat by things mentioned above.Bunkermensch said:Everything else is in early development, so there is no possibility to say something like it looks like a cheap plagiat.
How about just fixing the things that are wrong?Bunkermensch said:But I know that Per and some other guys here tend to be pessimistic and like to pull many things they do not like in the first moment into ridiculousness. It was the same when we talked about it some weeks ago...
So where is the problem when we want to have some time thinking about the name? Actually the discussion about the name is nearly finished, I am sorry that I had to brainfuck you with this old "in team" working title, which will be no more used in future. I was not aware of the problems this could cause.Sorrow said:Frankly, naming (or even codenaming the project) your game as a "True Fallout Sequel", while you don't own the Fallout intellectual property is incredibly arrogant and takes away your credibility.Bunkermensch said:Thats the reason of our wiki page named "gamename", in future we will be able to throw away the term "True Fallout Sequel" to describe the whole thing as it will describe itself as such. Is it so difficult to change the description to Fallout-like RPG or "Spiritual Successor of Fallout"? Or creating a new codename?
It doesn't matter if you want it or not - people will interpret it.
Comeon we are working on it, that page changes daily for example.Sorrow said:It can be said, that you are making it look like a cheap plagiat by things mentioned above.
