True Sequel - the game

Is this True Sequel a spiritual successor or a blatant Fallout game?

We do not own the Fallout license, thus it has to be a "spiritual successor".
Bethesda can be really fast when they can chop off your head, so better duck and cover concerning license things.

I know, but from what you write it sounds like a Fallout sequel, not a spiritual successor.

I don't know why, but I find the "True Fallout Sequel" phrase incredibly annoying.

Awwww, <3 Filefront guys

Now you know how we feel ;)

Juuuuuust kidding!

But they can't really advertise it as a "true Fallout Sequel" blatantly once they move along. Seriously, ZeniMax legal corps loves their cease and desists.

Can they put 'Remember Fallout?' on it?

That's exactly why the whole talking about "true Fallout Sequel" annoys me.

Also the statement that it's a "true Fallout sequel", can't be true Fallout sequel if it doesn't have the Fallout setting and mechanics.
Not to mention, that it sounds like a blatant plagiatism.

I prefer when people come up with their own things :? .

It is scary that Sorrow is starting to make good points in multiple threads...

I like the term 'spiritual successor" not sure if it applies here, but its a good term for supreme commander and its relationship to total annihilation

If only we could get a spiritual successor for FO...

Thats the reason of our wiki page named "gamename", in future we will be able to throw away the term "True Fallout Sequel" to describe the whole thing as it will describe itself as such. Spiritual successor is also a description we used, the other one was just the first one in mind so do not interpret much in it =)

Well, Fallout3 has everything you want: The original name, the license, some of the setting remains ie vaults, some gamemechanics stay. Have fun with it! hehe :D

What exactly of the whole thing is plagiatism? Actually we only have some decent technology built up and I cannot say that we used anything but some sprites for testing which were also used it Fallout.
Everything else is in early development, so there is no possibility to say something like it looks like a cheap plagiat.
And even if so, this is only something made by fans not by professionals. This is really not fair :P
But I know that Per and some other guys here tend to be pessimistic and like to pull many things they do not like in the first moment into ridiculousness. It was the same when we talked about it some weeks ago...

Frankly, naming (or even codenaming the project) your game as a "True Fallout Sequel", while you don't own the Fallout intellectual property is incredibly arrogant and takes away your credibility.
Is it so difficult to change the description to Fallout-like RPG or "Spiritual Successor of Fallout"? Or creating a new codename?
It doesn't matter if you want it or not - people will interpret it.

Fallout series are dead for me.

The "True Fallout Sequel" name for example and things like this.

It can be said, that you are making it look like a cheap plagiat by things mentioned above.

How about just fixing the things that are wrong?

So where is the problem when we want to have some time thinking about the name? Actually the discussion about the name is nearly finished, I am sorry that I had to brainfuck you with this old "in team" working title, which will be no more used in future. I was not aware of the problems this could cause.

Comeon we are working on it, that page changes daily for example.

It is rather early to judge I guess. But yes we are fixing things all the time.
