they've got everything now and/or better for everything except the jump belt (which actually worked btw, but the project was shitcanned) and the explosive fox-hole diggers that have gone out of style.

"Worked" it may have, but not without burning the user's ass. Also, AFAIK, those explosive wire/barrier cutter thingies aren't out of service.

I don't get the clown shoes, tho'

Those look like standard military leather boots, used to this very day. The guy's just got a big shoe size, which often gives them a "clownish" look.

no no, it actually worked. :)
making jumps several dozens of meters high and then coming down for a soft landing.

very starship trooperish.

ON THE BOUNCE!

but the actual applications in such a small package (-> short usability) meant it was too great an investment for very little gains in a real situation.

it wasn't meant as a bangalore (what you were thinking of, no doubt, see Saving Private Ryan).

but as actually digging foxholes in an instant. in Vietnam and following conflicts, explosives of this kind were never used to actually dig foxholes. clearing obstacles sure, but not as a G.I. foxhole digger.

Aw :(

Good thing they had Daisy Cutters, for G.I. Insta landing zones.

I want a Jump Belt.

But that helmet + mask + all those gadgets that were soldered to it, nah, that just looks ridiculous.

Which I accidentally misread as "Layered Lion Armor".

In Freudian terms, that's bound to mean something.
