Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Well there are going to be bunch of space action/survival horror games coming out in with 2016-2018 time period and was wondering what everyone's thoughts on them were. I am talking about Prey (2017), System Shock 1 Remastered, System Shock 3 and Routine.

None. You had a Bethesda title, two System Shock titles that are probably going to borrow innovations from Bioshock, and a game that I haven't really heard of.

Prey is being made by Arkane Studios- not BGS, only published by Bethesda Softworks. They did a really good job with Dishonored (imo) so I'm looking forward to it.
Plus wasn't Bioshock a spiritual successor to System shock?

First, Bethesda isn't getting my money. Second, Prey (2017) isn't Prey. Third, I hated Bioshock and I don't trust the devs to make something without the flaws of Bioshock. It would be like Bethesda remaking Fallout 1. Even if they plan to keep it in an overhead view, I don't trust them to not pander to TES fans.

EDIT: I'm a fucking idiot.
But about the remake- most devs when making remakes will literally just remake the game. They won't add stuff because it requires effort. It's not like they're going to change the perspective, add micro transactions and cut the game into separate pieces of DLC.

Are you one of the people that wanted Prey 2? After only seeing a CG trailer and no gameplay whatsoever? I'll wait until a game comes out before making assertions about it. I played the first game, and this new one seems only connected in name- which I have mixed feelings about, and I'll be waiting for (good) reviews before buying it (or not).

Wut? Prey 2 had a gameplay trailer, it was pretty badass for it's time and was nearly complete, with a backstory and everything. It was pretty fucking awesome, though Bethesda was being a little bitch about the company being independent.

Yeah, my mistake.

It's cool, we all derp from time to time, though I'm kind of sad Bethesda would go to such scumbag levels to just get the IP in their hands, only to take one look at it and go "What, an open world setting where the player is a Bounty Hunter that has three large scenery settings on a huge station? Fuck that noise, let's just make a spooky game that doesn't really look spooky!"

I've seen and liked the gameplay video as well, maybe I've been spending too much time on Bethesda.net
The concept seemed good, but I'd still take 1313 over Prey 2 any day. And yeah I agree Bethesda/Zenimax are a scummy company, which makes me really fucking worried about Dishonored 2.

It has more to do with the scummy things that Bethesda has done to sabotage Prey 2.

Also, I hate this stupid naming system. Ghostbusters (2016), Doom (2016), iPad (3rd Generation), Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Fuck that and anyone that does that. What is worst is that Prey (2017) had nothing to do with Prey.

Also, a remake is done from scratch. What you are thinking is a remaster which is too common nowadays.

I am curious about System Shock 1 Remake and System Shock 3, but I have read somewhere that the SS1R people are considering incorporating elements from SS2 into it that were not in the original game.
Sadly I don't have enough information yet on SS3 such as what the gameplay will be like, but I am a bit more curious about that game as it will have a new story, hence my selection.

I don't like EA, doesn't mean I wont drop money for the new Mass Effect or Dragon Age.

IMO Prey really wasn't that great of a game or a distinct franchise for me to be mourning its death. As far as I am concerned Prey 2 game play wise had very little to do with the original and the story was rather loosely tied to it anyway. Because if im completely honest ill take Arkane Studious made spiritual successor to system shock 2 written by the man the myth the legend Chris Avellone himself over "space bounty hunter game we knew fuck all about."

Also why are we assuming that its going to be like Bioshock? Dont get me wrong as System shock 2 die hard there are some glaring issues with Bioshock (though I have warmed up to it more recently). The demo is available and as far as I can tell it plays like system shock 1. Maybe abit fancier with system shock 2 inventory/UI but that's hardly a bad thing. Seeing as playing the original system shock was tedious albeit fun. I mean doesn't Bioshock play like any other shock game anyway? How can we gauge it playing like Bioshock?

If anything the original system shock played like a metroidvania game more than anything.

Again I don't really feel making it play like SS2 abit more is really a bad thing. I remember playing the original game as a kid and loving it, but now as an adult going back to the original system shock is hard. To say it played not smoothly is a massive understatement and all system shock 2 did was just make the UI for the original A LOT more user friendly. Because for all intensive purposes the inventory/UI in system shock 2 is more or less the same thing as system shock 1 just ya know usable.

Idk if they will add new areas or "rpg elements" though. I would be un happy if they did decide to implement shock 2 rpg mechanics simply because it wouldn't fit IMO.

IMO nearly every publisher is scummy in their own way. but as far as I can tell Dishonored 1 and DOOM 4 were solid and I don't really doubt that Prey or Dishonored 2 will be any different.

I hope so, I pre-ordered Dishonored 2. The first one had no graphical downgrades from gameplay trailers, so fingers crossed. And from buying the art book and watching dev diaries I know it's made by people passionate about games.

My biggest problem isn't with Bethesda per say, but rather their drone fans. They'll shit on EA and defend Bethesda- who do similar shit when it comes to fucking over smaller studios. They can get a pass on shit like Fallout 4 - a broken game with poor combat, graphics, optimization, story, mechanics- everything that's not subjective was wrong with it.

Based on what exactly? None of key people from Bioshock are working on the System Shock games.

Based on nothing. I don't get excited for videogames anymore period. However just imagine Bethesda shuts down and some new studio picks up the rights to remake Fallout 1. How likely is it going to be mechanically closer to FO3 than FO1?
The Making of Fallout New Vegas video showed that Obsidian was surprised on how popular FO3 was. A lot of people refers to FO3 as the first Fallout game. Seriously, most of them didn't realize that they excluded the first 2 games when talking about Fallout. Google "Fallout 1" and the first image in the summary stub is a cover of Fallout 3.
