I thought they integrated the religion into the modern lifestyle.
Long story short, I went to a beach resort in Malaysia (Penang) a few years ago with my wife. Malaysia is pretty moderate as Muslim nations go too.
Anyway, SE Asia in August, oppresive fucking jungle-ass humdity like you can't fucking beleive. Like walking around with a wet, wool blanket on you all the time. Anyway it's a beach resort everyone is in bathing suits (including Muslim dudes) except lots of women are in the full head-to-toe burkas where only their eyes are visible. Hey whatever, it's their choice I guess. I don't see how you can enjoy a beach resort in a heavy, black full body burka in the hottest, humidest place on earth, but that's me.
Anyway, talk about absurd, trying to watch one of these poor women trying to mount a jet-ski in the chop of the open ocean, without getting her burka soaked. Shades of Sisyphus. It was tragi-comic indeed.
Then, I had to ask myself as I saw Muslim families on the beach taking pictures (men in shorts and t-shirts, women all but eyes covered by black burka), what's the freakin' point of taking family pictures when you can only see the eyes of the women? Do you even know who's who when you go back and look? Do you go back and reminisce "gee Myrtle your hair-do looks so dated in that photo". Honestly, why not just take a picture of their feet or seomthing, "this is our feet at the Grand Canyon, here's Aunt Eleanor's feet at Niagra Falls". On the upside you never have to worry about redoing a picture because so-and-so had her mouth open.
Pretty absurd IMO.
Anyway, no joking about Muslims right, through some kind of double standard they are a protected species or something.
I did not say this. I was not here.
