Using dogs as chick magnets banned in Saudi Arabia

You've got to be fuckin' kidding me.

I thought the Islamic countries where a lot less strict on the whole restrictions thing. I thought they integrated the religion into the modern lifestyle. But reading this I'm starting to doubt.

In The Netherlands, it's mostly the immigrants from those countries that follow the lines of the Islam strictly. Natives, are from what I've experienced a lot more.. "relaxed" so to say.

Long story short, I went to a beach resort in Malaysia (Penang) a few years ago with my wife. Malaysia is pretty moderate as Muslim nations go too.

Anyway, SE Asia in August, oppresive fucking jungle-ass humdity like you can't fucking beleive. Like walking around with a wet, wool blanket on you all the time. Anyway it's a beach resort everyone is in bathing suits (including Muslim dudes) except lots of women are in the full head-to-toe burkas where only their eyes are visible. Hey whatever, it's their choice I guess. I don't see how you can enjoy a beach resort in a heavy, black full body burka in the hottest, humidest place on earth, but that's me.

Anyway, talk about absurd, trying to watch one of these poor women trying to mount a jet-ski in the chop of the open ocean, without getting her burka soaked. Shades of Sisyphus. It was tragi-comic indeed.
Then, I had to ask myself as I saw Muslim families on the beach taking pictures (men in shorts and t-shirts, women all but eyes covered by black burka), what's the freakin' point of taking family pictures when you can only see the eyes of the women? Do you even know who's who when you go back and look? Do you go back and reminisce "gee Myrtle your hair-do looks so dated in that photo". Honestly, why not just take a picture of their feet or seomthing, "this is our feet at the Grand Canyon, here's Aunt Eleanor's feet at Niagra Falls". On the upside you never have to worry about redoing a picture because so-and-so had her mouth open.
Pretty absurd IMO.

Anyway, no joking about Muslims right, through some kind of double standard they are a protected species or something.

I did not say this. I was not here.

Christ, what's next...A ban on cruise control in Canada? Still this proves not everything in the news is depressing.

No, it is not. It's the religious + strict patriarchal system that forces the women to wear burkas.

They can't. A muslim woman's feet are considered unclean and showing them is often considered an insult (especially the soles of their feet). They do try to wear nice, "original" footwear to be able to distinguish one another or so I've heard. And, of course, burkas tend to come in a variety of colours and fabrics.

Why would you not be able to joke about muslims? It's not because they seem to lack a sense of humour, that we should become bland as well, now is it? Also: if Allah didn't like humour, he would not have invented it, right? 'Nuff said.

I'm not here. This isn't happening.

It's Saudi Arabia... You know, the place where they print in translations of the qur'an with little additions to make things a little clearer.
For example
"...the enemies of god(Such as: The jews, the christians, Alec the foot licker)"

Yeah anyway. Grin, your right, Muslims everywhere are moving toward fundamentalism in a way that coexists with modern life. Fanatics are nuts and its hard to explain just what they are thinking.

...Ban selling dogs and cats as pets, as well as walking them in public. The prohibition went into effect last month in the capital, Riyadh, and authorities in the city say they will strictly enforce it...

Holy shit! I'm totally moving to Riyadh. Finally, oppression takes a turn for the good.

Actually I was quoting Dune.
(bonus points for guessing which character)

One of the members of the Spacing Guild, unless I'm mistaken. It's been awhile.

I wonder if they have such animals as seeing-eye dogs for the blind in Saudi, and if those would be confiscated as well by the 'Virtue' Police (I love that, lol).

Well, at least the ban is in the capital not the entire country.

Or is it?

This is probably the most absurd ban I've seen in a long while.

'Tis a 3rd Stage Guild Navigator when meeting the Padishah Emperor, Shaddam IV about the dangers of a young Paul Atreides.
"We want him killed. I did not say this. I am not here."

Is it sad that I can follow that conversation without knowing german? *Has watched it too many times*

Sigh... i am going to be burned now for sure.
This is mostly based on my own personal beliefs/understanding/interpretion
This so called "man can wear anything as long as his certain places are covered(shorts), woman has to close/cover her bare parts not to tempt man to sin" thing comes mainly from "what i personally belive" faulty - misleading interpretion.

The only relevant part in Quran says: (as close as i can give the meaning) "the most holy/pure clothing worn is the clothing worn during the worship."
This is largely interpreted as the clothing traditionaly worn during the Hac (Visiting the Mecca)
Now the [cencored]s who rule 90+% of Muslim communities use these arguments to beat down on the female part of society.

What i (and some) people think about this passage is completely diffrent; i belive that this passage means its your inner purpose, true clothing if you will, that counts for anything when you worship not some external silk robes.

So yea; take 1 survival in the desert+basic morality "guide", teach others that it actually means worship is important, not morality; and use the worship for/as your own powerbase.

It is a sick world..........

This sounds more retaded than when Vatican claimed that sex is a very addictive drug
