Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines for the 16th

A recent developer interview claims that a lot of things require force to get through, just not all. Which isn't that bad, really. I mean, TECHNICALLY you could get through Fallout 1 and 2 without engaging in combat, but then how much game is left?

Yo man, how can you be dissin Christof like that Crusader turned vampire, the guy had me from the first 'thee'. I hope you mean the game sucks, and not the story. Because Christof is most definitely the man. You can't watch the intro and not believe that.

The story is pretty bleh, actually. Where the game excels though is its characters, which are well designed and written.

Really though, now that the chaingun has lost its "fun factor" I'm really just playing the game just to see what happens.

Lots, trust me. Playing Fallout 1 and 2 while trying to not get into fights is one of the most fun experiences I've had with both Fallout games.

I disagree. I think that the story is, in principle, quite good and leaves lots of room for interesting things, the problem is that they don't use it. Christoff could've gone through a lot of different interesting character developments, but he didn't, his development pretty much stagnated after going to the modern world.

Also, VTM: Redemption SUCKS. Nevermind that I'm playing it right now to get a good feel for the system and canon. But it sucks majorly.

From what I've read I gather that they retired the old Vampire setting a few years ago and created a whole new one, so what is canon in Redemption has little to do with the new system.

Actually Trasylvania is a part of Romania. Yeah, it's not fictional, surprisingly for some people who seem to know so much about "vampire history".

Romania, Czech Republic, who cares? It's partially in Germany, that's all I'm sure of.

Bloodlines is a VTM game, as was Redemption. They're both in the same world, and feature the same canon.

I think they created the new setting because the VTM world entered its End Days. But don't quote me on that.

Bloodlines is going to be a part of official World of Darkness canon and serves as a prequel to the End Days.

Only the Flemish will recognise the eerie doom in that statement.
Not true. I recognise it as well. Though it took me some time.

*waits for the 16th*

I mostly think that the voise acting was the stromg part of the game can still remember the first boss and Cristupers dialoge :D

Tzimisce: I am evil, can you not tell?

Christof: Nay, I art good. I shalt kill thee wretch.

Tzimisce: WHATEVAH! SNIP-SNAP!

Game was delayed due to using HL2's source code. Sadly this may be why troika goes under if their current cash inflow is a indicator. Hopefully bloodlines saves them.

Sure, if we discount the fact that Hungary and Austria lie between Germany and Romania when we take the shortest path.

The reason the area has a German name; Siebenburgen; is because germans settled there once. I don't think there's many who would consider themselves german there anymore.

As far as I understand the official website of Siebenbürgen (Transylvania) in the 12th century some German Franconians (the "Siebenbürger Sachsen" or "Transylvanian Saxons") migrated to the area refered to as "terra ultrasilvana" (country beyond the forrests) which is now part of Romania. They became mostly independant but in return had to pay the king a yearly fee and serve the country as soldiers in times of war. The region belonged to different countries throughout the centuries, for some time it was Hungarian and at some point the Turks took it, but it's part of central Romania now.

Apparently the whole thing experienced a downwards spiral after WW2 (for obvious reasons). However until then the German settlements were quite prospering in Transylvania.

Transylvania was never German, I misinterpreted something there. However many Transylvanians have German ancestors and many chose a German nationality (note that nationality isn't the same thing as citizenship).

Well, there you go. History lesson closed.

Ashmo was right. EUII says so.

Ashmo, is you're location a referance to Gunter Grass or am I far off?

No, it's a reference to the fact we have a military draft and I'm on forced labor for nine months because of it.

This is true for Fallout 1, but in 2, didn't you HAVE to fight Frank Horrigan to actually finish the game?

No, you could convince some enclave patrol men to turn on him and they can kill him for you. You can also program the turrets to attack him, but he will defeat all the turrets before they can kill him.

Good yes, but the thing working against them is their timing. Coming out right against WoW, EQ2, HL2, the new Prince of Persia...

Crowded docket.
